I had TWO gen @ dishies. The one that turned into a flat mount was "disassembled" from the motorized components leaving a 1/2 thick sheet with the goodies on the back of it. I hogged out a piece of starboard and mounted the flat sheet into the starboard. My second dishie was the gen 2 on a tripod. If I needed it I let it find it's happy place.
I ran two cords to the router. One to the flat mount up top, and one to the ground dishie. I would simply switch them at the router as needed.
