I find the drive through Canada mostly uninteresting.

I'm with you TJ.  I've driven the Alcan and drove I to Prudhoe Bay in a pickup truck in the early 80's.  I spent a number of years living in AK and flying all over it and some of the Yukon Territory.  Nowadays I airline up and rent a 28' class C.

We have flown to Alaska in the past, but our reason for driving now is to take our 2 Bernese Mountain Dogs with us to see Alaska and visit our daughter.  If we didn't have our dogs I would definitely fly again.  We will be towing our Jeep and are thinking about driving the Daulton in our Jeep again like we did on our honeymoon.
