DD60 starting problem
#5

It takes a lot longer to reestablish prime than you would think.

If you have the pump on top of the fuel tank, that is the BEST way to get fuel into the filter. It takes a LOT of pumping. Pump the filter full if you can.

If you can’t utilize the pump, then fill the filter completely full of fresh fuel, or clean ATF. I like new ATF because I know it’s not contaminated.

Turn the key on, and use the remote start at the rear. Crank for 15 seconds. Yeah I know, it will seem like an eternity. Wait a couple of minutes before each 15 second effort. You are looking for bubbles around the filter collar. If you have bubbles, reseal until you don’t. If you have big bubbles directly above the fuel inlet on the filter, you may have a leak in the fuel line or worse a broken fuel pickup tube. If you see bubbles STOP immediately. If you continue to run you only empty the lines again.

If it doesn’t try to start after 5 tries, then go to the measures that Jeff and Mark outlined above.
