My old friend of 15 years just drove off. It is a strange feeling to see her go. Darlene and i have so many wonderful memories of our trips in her. having spent probably close to 18 months in total traveling in her. that is darlene and i standing in front of her saying goodbye.
I will let the new owners introduce themselves. they have been here for 4 days as we went over everything and took it to get new tires. they spent thursday nite sleeping in it while it was in the shop. and friday nite outside.
they also got an enormous amount of 15 years of spare parts. from airbags to latches to filters, belts, and 4 big bins and several boxes.
they are wonderful people. he owns a super hi end stereo store and she is a country western singer having done duets with willy nelson and has lots of stories.
this purchase shows the power of our forum. i did not advertise anywhere. all i did was put this single post on gurus saying that it would be for sale soon. had a fine couple come and see it and it didnt fit their needs for bunkbeds for their small kids. another person on the phone and then on the phone this fine couple who flew out and bought it.
i spent months going through every system and cleaning, polishing and servicing. i had the oil changed before they got here. i found a heavy truck service guy who lived 10 minutes from me who came and did it in my shop. with the price of fuel it is cheaper to have someone come to you....ha
you can see in the pictures another coach. i bought a haulmark super c on a freightliner cascadia chassis (thanks to richard). a very high quality rig. it is smaller. 40 ft in total and 32 ft living area. 2 slides. i spent months updating the dc side with full victron setup. i build battery banks out of cells and have 1100 amp hours. and 1350w solar. autogen start, remote light control, temp and tank sensors i can see on my phone. and lots of other features using the victron cerbo gx.
the cascadia is an isx15 500hp. and the rig is only 38k lbs. a 13 speed eaton tranny. i searched all over the usa to find a 40ft on full cascadia rig so we could get into state and provincial parks. we did 9k miles in a trip to alaska last summer in it. it handled the rough roads very well. darlene really likes driving it too. she was alot more fearful of the newell.
a very different rig for sure. much simpler, higher clearance.
my love and support of newellgurus will not change. i will keep doing it. as the motto says....friends helping friends has been so true and will not change
thank you to everyone who supported me in the process of transitioning coach 608 to the new folks. your comments of support helped the new folks feel more comfortable with me.
