i thought i was a pretty good internet searcher, and i know i have seen these things somewhere.  

the clear acrylic dinette table support leg that is put in when the table is extended.

besides newell, does anyone know where to buy these clear acrylic legs?

Tom, there is a plastic place in San antonio and I would be happy to give them a call and check the price. not sure if it's the same size as mine..give me the length and diameter and i'll call for you.

I've been thinking of getting a piece of mesquite and turning a new leg. It would be different but eye catching.

that would be nice in clear high gloss finish. fortunately i dont have a lathe or i would need another building out back....ha

at one point i was carrying three lathes. I'm down to one now. 

About the high gloss finish, I'd probably use either spar varnish or CA glue..
