the rubber seal over the doorbell button has ripped after all these years.
i looked on the forum and couldnt find anyone who has a part number for the button.
anyone know?

You may have to replace the doorbell button with something like this
Amazon button.
I did an internet search for "weatherproof push button switch" and then switched to the 'image' view.

Is the doorbell button hole 12mm? This one is non-rust stainless, and waterproof.
