I think the fan blade is on backwards, if its like my big units, they pull air through the coil and push it out the bottom. Maybe this partly explains issues with this unit not working properly.

So I was thinking this is how the airflow goes. Sucks it in from the area under the steps and blows it out the side??

So you have to think about these units as two units, inside and outside all in one package.The two coils are separate from each other when it cones to air flow. This is why they are generally called package units. 

So the fan blade you are looking at is the outside coil (condenser) it takes outside air and pulls it over the coil and dumps the heat outside. In this case I believe it pulls from the side and pushes the air down through the bottom grill of the unit, at least that is how my larger units work. You should notice a cut out in the floor of the bay to allow the air to be dumped out the bottom of the unit. 

The indoor portion (evaporator) takes air from inside the coach (under the stairs) and pulls it across the evaporator coil to remove the heat from the air and then forces it up through the ductwork back inside to the air registers, providing cooler air inside. This is most likely a squirrel cage fan (blower) for the inside unit. 

So as I said the air over the two coils is indoor air for the evaporator and outdoor air for the condenser, they are speperate from each other concerning air. The reason I say air is because the refrigerant is what is traveling between the two coils, this is the job of the compressors. They pull the refrigerant from the evaporator and push it through the condenser to transfer the heat from the indoor coil to the outdoor coil.

Yeah I agree. I thought about it a lot last night. Pulling air from outside and dumping it out the bottom. Not only that maybe that’s why the fan motor went bad cause it was sucking a bunch of dirt off the ground and trying to blow it thru the coil..  

So if I reverse that fan blade I’ll be good??  The squirel cage was sending air in the proper direction inside

Hopefully flipping the fan blade will work, will it be turning the correct direction to pull air in?

Some replacement motors have external leads that can be swapped to change the direction of the motor.

In this case with a thru shaft motor all you have to do is spin the motor 180 to change the direction. Yes I do agree I have seen motors that you are able to change the direction, generally on the standard one side shaft motors.

Well reason I ask is it seems to be blowing air the appropriate direction thru the squirrel cage it is just blowing it the wrong direction thru the coil.  

So if I flip it 180 degrees then it will be spinning the squirrel cage the wrong way right??

Squirrel cages blow air the right way when they are turning backwards but they move a lot more air when they are turning the right way
