2002 Newell Coach 608 soon to be for sale The original Newell Guru
#1

I have had my baby for almost 15 years.  I am just finishing up some things to have it ready.  I freshly polished, clay barred and hybrid ceramic coated it.  inside is completely detailed by my wife.   i detailed all the bays, the genny, the engine etc.

Darlene says i have to thin the herd.  I have had 2 coaches for 18 months now.

about 211k miles.   the genny says 8k hours and it runs fine and fluid samples fine.  i believe it was rebuilt totally before i got it as it was painted to look like new then.  and i found some receipts on it.  I am finishing putting in a new carbon fiber look dash and instrument panel.  the old one had a large homegrown newell backup camera monitor in it and it failed.  i replace it with a voyager overhead one.  so to fill the big hole in i have had a new one waterjet cut and I am just in the process of finishing it.  I have other things i am busy with so it might be a few weeks.  it is a bath and a half.  and full size cal king custom bed.

will come with the silverleaf vmspc monitoring system.

I am just putting this out there to gauge interest.  There are more pictures but that is all i am going to post for now.  lots of things have been updated, fixed and serviced over the years.  it has been stored inside in my shop for the past 12 years.

price to be determined yet but will be open to offers.  I am not desperate in any way and will take my time to find the right person to take her.  but will be very reasonable.  If i dont sell it myself, I will have a broker friend sell it like he did my 99.

This coach is well documented on this forum.  It did sit for quite a while when i had health problems but i have gone through just about everything on it since then.  Lots of spare parts as well some of which i will be posting on here for sale separately  .  air suspension holds for months.  as it sits in the pictures it has been for 2 months.

Tires are the only thing it will need.  they are pristine, no cracking and low miles but are aging out.  all batteries are new.  has a magnum inverter i put in.

i bought this coach from the Honda Indy car team.  it was a hospitality coach then.  and the andretti race team built it.

i will be very honest and upfront about everything when talking in person.  I am not going to do a zillion posts explaining things on it.  it has some unique features.

the basement airs work great  they have had the relay mods and rebuilt circuit boards  dash air works great.  etc, etc etc.

It is not perfect.  but it is very nice.  any of you on the forum that know it, please feel free to comment on your opinion of it.  that is the best recommendations i can do.

we have traveled for 6 months at a time in it and many other trips and just love it.  it is like getting rid of a family member.

we all have to remember it is 25 years old and there will always be something to fix or upgrade.

I am not giving up the rv life yet.  Have picked up another coach that I will tell about later.  darlene and i went to alaska with forest and cindy last summer in it.

This is my 3rd Newell and have made so many friends from having it.  Starting and running Newellgurus has been one of the highlites of my retired life.  Many many gurus have seen and been in this coach and been here at our home.  and the offer is still there.  we have 2 full 50am hookups.

Newellgurus will continue to thrive and help all of us out.

I live in Wittmann, Arizona, which is about 30 minutes outside the phoenix metro area by surprise.  in between surprise and wickenburg.  about 1 hour from phoenix sky harbor airport.  It will be available until mid april.  then it will either go too the broker or wait until fall.  like i said, i am not in any rush.  nice thing about being retired is to not be in a tizzy or rush.  eh?

I've been in and out of this coach from Spearfish to Bella Terra to my place in LA more than once. Stayed in it while visiting Tom. The coach has been documented on Guru's since 2012. Tom upgraded many items and it is done right.

I have spent many hours in 608. Tom is a detail fanatic. He likes to have everything working the way it should even if he never uses it. He upgrades when something new comes along that catches his attention. He has put uncountable hours updating and improving this coach. It is a very sound coach.

What can I say? It’s Tom’s coach, the originator of the overkill solution is just right.

I am happy to say that a fine couple has decided to buy our coach. They will be an asset to the guru gang.

thank you to the people who have looked at it and inquired about it. made some new friends just from that. as darlene said when she came up with the phrase on our logo "Friends helping Friends" its so true.

I feel like i am loosing an old friend. Darlene and i have had her for 15 years and traveled all over the usa and canada.

I will talk of our future plans another time, but it will have no impact on Newellgurus. We have made so many dear friends for life because of having 3 newells.

the forum is a great asset. this one post above is the only mention i made of selling my coach. no ads, no rv trader, no anything else.

thank you to all of you for making newellgurus such a great resource for help and friendship.

So happy you were able to sell your coach so quickly! I know how awesome your coach(es) are and the new owners are getting a great coach. I aspire to keep my coach to the level you kept your coach in… You inspire us all and can’t wait to see where you go next!

My old friend of 15 years just drove off.   It is a strange feeling to see her go. Darlene and i have so many wonderful memories of our trips in her.  having spent probably close to 18 months in total traveling in her.  that is darlene and i standing in front of her saying goodbye.

I will let the new owners introduce themselves.  they have been here for 4 days as we went over everything and took it to get new tires.  they spent thursday nite sleeping in it while it was in the shop.  and friday nite outside.

they also got an enormous amount of 15 years of spare parts.  from airbags to latches to filters, belts, and 4 big bins and several boxes.

they are wonderful people.  he owns a super hi end stereo store and she is a country western singer having done duets with willy nelson and has lots of stories.

this purchase shows the power of our forum.  i did not advertise anywhere.  all i did was put this single post on gurus saying that it would be for sale soon.  had a fine couple come and see it and it didnt fit their needs for bunkbeds for their small kids.  another person on the phone and then on the phone this fine couple who flew out and bought it.

i spent months going through every system and cleaning, polishing and servicing.  i had the oil changed before they got here.  i found a heavy truck service guy who lived 10 minutes from me who came and did it in my shop.  with the price of fuel it is cheaper to have someone come to you....ha

you can see in the pictures another coach.  i bought a haulmark super c on a freightliner cascadia chassis (thanks to richard).  a very high quality rig.   it is smaller.  40 ft in total and 32 ft living area.  2 slides.  i spent months updating the dc side with full victron setup.  i build battery banks out of cells and have 1100 amp hours.  and 1350w solar.  autogen start, remote light control, temp and tank sensors i can see on my phone.  and lots of other features using the victron cerbo gx.

the cascadia is an isx15 500hp.  and the rig is only 38k lbs.  a 13 speed eaton tranny.  i searched all over the usa to find a 40ft on full cascadia rig so we could get into state and provincial parks.  we did 9k miles in a trip to alaska last summer in it.  it handled the rough roads very well.  darlene really likes driving it too.  she was alot more fearful of the newell.

a very different rig for sure.  much simpler, higher clearance.

my love and support of newellgurus will not change.  i will keep doing it.  as the motto says....friends helping friends has been so true and will not change

thank you to everyone who supported me in the process of transitioning coach 608 to the new folks.  your comments of support helped the new folks feel more comfortable with me.

Loved the buff and shine in the sun. The paint on those era Newells really responds to the buffer.

I hope to meet the new owners soon.
