i dont think he has an aquahot.
i had the same thing. used coolant consistently when i was driving. mine ended up being the heater core under the dash. that was easy to figure out when it leaked enough to come out on the edge of the doghouse on the carpet.
so.....i thought, i would just shut off the valves at the engine that go up to the front heater core. actually a smart idea till you remember those are old valves that have probably never been turned off. so when i turned the two valves off (one for going and one for coming back), they leaked like crazy at the handle. and only leaked when they were off. and they are on a manifold that is really hard to get at.
so, i decided i dont care about dash heat. i have aquahot that blows as a defrost and have aquahot heaters at the drivers and passengers ankles....and i dont want to drive where it is cold anyway if i can help it. so i just got a piece of heater hose and looped it between the two valves and left them open. have not used a drop of coolant since.
