Entry door won't open
#1

My son brought our coach from Long Island to St Louis today, after going in and out this afternoon the door won't open.
We just bought this coach #599 in August so we're still learning. I can see the air has gone down in the rear  and I do have the
generator running. Also there's a keypad to set in a code for the door which we've never used, would anyone know how
to reset the keypad? Any ideas what to do to get the door to open? Thank You for any ideas you may have.

Do you have the Bode air door, or is yours manual? It could be either in this year range.

There is a valve to release the air pressure on the door so it will open. I think it is in the basement compartment just to the rear of the door up high on the bulkhead. It has been discussed before so you should be able to find it with a search.

Hi Richard
Steve Magown just sent me a text, he told me to look for write up Tom did about the Bode air door. I noticed #606 thought that his was the 1st coach with that door. Ours is an air door so I don't know what kind that would be. Is there a manual release somewhere? I believe the coach lost air as I'm sitting real low. I had the coach at Newell in October and had them address the loss of air issue. I believe it's been an ongoing issue with this coach as I have old repair orders from previous owners. It's frustrating when you pay them thousands and they don't fix the issues as the coach has sat for 2 months and then doesn't work when you're ready to use it. I'm looking forward to meeting some of you guru's in Spearfish this coming June. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Step #1 in solving air loss issues is to replace all push in fittings with DOT compression fittings.

I met a previous owner of your coach at Newell a few years ago.  They were at Newell then to get air issues fixed.

Dale,

Glad you got the door open.

The most singular common denominator amongst Newell owners is air leaks and the problems they cause. Newell uses air to operate more things than any other motorhome builder. I have spoken with countless owners who have shared the same frustration as you in paying someone a ton of money to fix air leaks only to have more.

The solution is to track them down and fix them your self. The alternative is to continue to pay dearly and curse afterwards. There are excellent resources on this forum to teach you how to deal with the leaks. @"rheavn" has several threads on finding air leaks. He also has a video made at one of our get togethers courtesy of Michael Day, @"Fulltiming". There is another set of videos courtesy of Michael, explaining the air system on your coach. I am sure these gentlemen will post links if you can’t find them using the search engine on this forum. I would, but I am on the dang iPad, and have never figured out how to copy and paste interweb links.
