What Are These Chains and Brackets For?
#1

These pictures are from the left side rear door of my 1986 Classic 40'. What is the chain for? Also what might be the purpose for the brackets?  I am replacing the rusted through floor in the compartment and came across this. Any help appreciated.

It’s only a guess, perhaps a cylinder of some liquid was carried there, propane, motor oil, or?   Appears to be for holding something during transport.  IDK?

There is nothing like that in my '86 , I'm guessing the chain was added . Do you have a vertical exhaust pipe in the area ?

The exhaust does go down through there. There are angle supports that make it look like it was once compartment. When you open that left door is it a compartment on your 86?

There is no separate compartment at the left rear door , it opens into the main access for the engine , exhaust , etc . That's a pretty serious chain , interesting to work out it's purpose .
