RV Towing

I am trying to determine which service is better. Good Sam or CoachNet. GS is $129 a year and they claim unlimited mileage towing and tire repair/replacement. CN is $249 a year and will tow to nearest facility which is useless for those of us with 2 strokers since many shops will not have the know how to work on them. CN has an optional add on for tire coverage.  What do you all recommend?

I have used neither. I just take my credit card with me . B)
The RV forums I frequent seem to favor CNet

I too subscribed to the credit card towing package but with a shortage of truck drivers and specialty equipment operators, they can ask for whatever they want. Wouldn't surprise me if they bang you for $1500 to go 2 miles. I still maintain my CDL. Perhaps I should start driving professionally again!

I carry Safeco Insurance, and there is a towing package that is part of the policy. I have used it once and have been happy.

I ended up getting CoachNet last night. Picking up 312 today. Trying to keep Murphy from hanging out in my rig...

I have AAA with RV coverage,  haven't had occasion to use it . A bus broke down near Bus Grease Monkey recently,  few miles away.  Tow was $1500 . Overheating and fuel delivery issues seem to be the main culprits in roadsiding DD two strokes.

Richard, good to know Safeco worked out on towing. I just moved to them as State Farm was way out of bounds on the premium for 653. I do have CoachNet as well, but maybe I need to rethink that for next year.

My plan A, depending on what the mechanical issue is, is to have a local to me towing company that I know come and pick my coach up and take it back home to the local mechanic I normally employ for the "heavy mechanical" work. This strategy only works if I'm not too far from home. We rarely travel more than 500 miles away. Plan B is to call a mobile mechanic if appropriate. Plan C is to fix it myself...

I like your plan. I may follow that guideline. I have tools to swap out a tire but no spare so that wouldn't do much good. Unless it is a simple mechanical fix or hard to do on the side of the road, I guess a tow it is.

We opted for Good Sam Roadside Assistance this year in addition to our regular insurance with State Farm.  When I got stuck on wet grass in Meteetsee, Wyoming at the Oasis RV Park I called rather than wait for the grass to dry.  Although it took a couple hours for the wrecker to get there from Casper, the closest location, he was able to hook onto the receiver and by digging his spade into firm ground was able to winch me back onto dry road.  
Of course that was a simple maneuver and only required a standard car wrecker not a Landau.  But Good Sam did the work and kept us up to date on the progress as it transpired.
Hope you never have to use a service, but if wishes were horses.................
