Some of you know that Rhonda and I spend three weeks almost every year at Glacier. It is the most amazing place we have been. The KOA is nice with spacious lots.

I just want you to know that in mid June there will still be a LOT of snow in the higher elevations, and the Going to the Sun Road may or may not be open by then.

Enjoy, if you attend, it is likely one of the most scenic places you will ever visit.

If you do attend, please consider extending your stay to include some time on the East side. The KOA there is really nice, and there is a lot of scenery, hiking, and wildlife on the East Side, including the Many Glacier entrance, and the Two Medicine entrance. It is TOO far from the West entrance to the East entrance to really enjoy what is on the East Side. If you are considering this option, CALL NOW, it fills up fast. Their number is 800 562 1504

Richard,

Are you and Rhonda planning on attending the Rally or are your plans just to be at the KOA and hanging out? Do you have your dates set yet? And spot?
What about staying on west side, plans already made?
Thanks

No. We will not be at this rally. We will be at East Glacier in July. I will post our 2022 tour soon.

Looks like we will be going to the Newell rally in June but it also looks like there might not be any open dates after the rally at either of the KOA's. Does anyone have any other suggestions on where to stay and is anyone else planning on going to the rally? We will be leaving out of Franklin NC and plan on spending a week or so in getting there but would also like to spend at least another month out west before heading back. We are open for suggestions.
Thanks

Dario, are you wanting to stay around Glacier or some of the other close by areas?

Look at the itineraries that we have posted by tour year, and you will find a lot of info on parks/phone numbers out in that area.

There are more in earlier years if you are interested.

I would highly recommend Dick's Campground in Great Falls as a one or two day stay before heading into Glacier. We use it as a grocery stocking, fuel up, take care of stuff before we head into Glacier. You will be more remote than normal, especially if you stay on the East Side.

Thanks Richard. I will take a look at your itineraries to get some ideas that we might add to our trip. I reached out to KOA East but have not heard back from them yet, however I just got off the phone with KOA West and was able to book three nights before our arrival and two nights after the event. We have never been there and I hope this will give us some additional time to visit and explore the area. If anyone else is planning on going to the rally, please let me know.
Thanks

Work hard to get more time on the EAST side. Two Medicine and Many Glacier are well worth multiple days. In June, the Going to the Sun road is UNLIKELY to be open. Translation, you will not be able to bisect the park to access the East Side. You will have to drive around, and that’s almost two hours each way.

If you camp on the East side, have what you need before you go there.
