Battery tray won’t come out
#1

We had new battery trays built 2 years ago, and have had no issues with them at all….once unlocked in front, they have just nicely pulled out. Today…not so.  The right side of each tray seems to try to move, the left side won’t budge.  Any ideas?  My husband was just about to re-fill with distilled water, can’t do so without the trays coming out!  HELP?  We have tried rust melt to see if that’s an issues, still nothing ….  Appreciate any ideas!

Has there been any acid leaking?  Is the battery compartment still vented?

An over charged battery will leak acid out the top and it could be spilling onto your slides.  If you have one bad battery it can cause over charge on the others...

Seems like a quick deterioration on new slides.  Or maybe a continuation of the same original problem that caused original failure.

Is it more than 1 drawer slide stuck?  Can you pry anywhere?

Do you have any pictures?

If it is corroded try:
1. Gibbs penetrating oil
2. Kroil penetrating oil.

Soak the corroded area then tap it firmly with a hammer. reapply penetrant a couple times and tap throughout the day and let it set overnight before trying to move again.

Also make sure that none of the battery cables are “trapped”.

Try pushing in sharply in case the release is jammed.

UPDATE!!  After a friend came to see what he might be able to help with…..he and Ken discovered that the middle battery was slightly lower than the others (this on the top slide of batteries) — after doing some yanking enough to see, they discovered that a bar, which is a support on the back, had broken in half and was in the way.  They got the bar moved just enough to pull the trays part way out…..but now they have to figure out how to get the trays back in!  We don’t want to drive this back to KY this way, have to first, get the trays back in, and now we have an appointment with a local trucking company we have used in the past….and the hope is that they can get the batteries off the trays, either weld that bar or replace, and clean it all up.  I thank you all for your advice - and we have our fingers crossed to get this fixed.  It would seem perilous to drive it this way, with all the bumps and nasty roads you encounter everywhere.

Just would be nice to know if they can fix it….would be even better if things stopped happening every time we are in this coach!
