1998 478 Inverter Issues
#41

It is all 12-volt. I’m sticking with that for now and will decide later to go 48-volt IF I can figure out a decent way to get the A/C’s converted to something that uses less energy or get a different coach…
Richard, thanks for the idea - I will look into using the Noco! Which wattage/amperage do I need to ‘trickle charge’ the batteries please? I’m surprised the No.co charger costs more than the Victron chargers… This is the Victron I was looking at: https://www.victronenergy.com/chargers/b...22-charger
The Victron Multiplus II has a ‘trickle charger’ onboard but not sure if it will overcharge/cook the AGM batteries… here is an article about it: https://community.victronenergy.com/t/ho...er-work/98

BTW, how can I move this topic from the ‘HELP!’ Section to more appropriate section please?

This is what I used. It is not intended to "charge" depleted batteries, only to maintain charged batteries when parked for long periods. 10 amps isn't much when connected in parallel to 2 8D batteries. It is smart, so it won't overcook them.

The trickle charge function is not recommended if the domestic battery is lithium and the starter battery is lead acid due to the higher voltage of lithium batteries That is from the Victron article. Essentially what I said earlier and the reason I went with a separate maintenance unit.

Thanks Richard! When I get home I will obtain and install a charger for the engine batteries.
