Crestron upgrade
#1

Hi Newell Forum

Not sure if I am posting this on the correct spot on this forum

We have coach 1624
It is a P50
Age 2018
Have Intrepid system 1.0 (I think)
Have crestron ( icon is pink cyclone looking icon and color) software on ipad to manage all coach functions

I went on vacation and my son brought his Starlink with

With such great internet I thought it a good idea to upgrade the two ipads in our coach to the newest IOS

We had 13 version now upgrade to 18
Unfortunately we bought the coach used and  dont have the email or password for the previous own unavailable - we know who previous owner was but he did not know his own password so we cant truly access the edit functionality to make the system our own

So we created new icloud account to sign in

Now the ipad is telling me that the crestron software needs to be upgraded

When we go to the crestron’s website it does not have the same pink/ red icon version - actually says has been discontinued and has other versions

So the question is did the ipad software just mess everything up to the point of no return with the previous functionality?

Does anybody know if one needs the old version to be reinstalled to make the Intrepid system work again

Would upgrading to the new system think Intrepid 2.0 now be the the only option to get all functionality back on the ipad system?

Appreciate any and all advice

Will call Newell next week when back - might be the only option I now have

Thanks guys!

Manuel,

The short answer is yes, the IOS change did cause your problems. I would call Newell today, Jan 2, before 3pm CST. Have all your version numbers written down before you talk with them.

If you attempt this again, read about or ask about software version compatibility. As well, it could be as simple as having the password to control the software. It may control a "compatibility mode".

When you upgrade software on one part if any system it is almost always true that you need to update all or part of the other software. Think of software as a language spoken by a part if the system. If one part is changed it may be speaking a new dialect or may have a change in vocabulary. Don't try to figure out the reason, just know that it is not always backwards compatible.

Hi there,

Yes, you have Intrepid 1.o.

I made a video all about upgrading the tech on our 1524 and have helped numerous others through this process WHICH MUST BE DONE SYSTEMATICALLY!! Everyone who's just stuffed & chucked has run into problems; so don't fret.

I could help you unravel this, but fact is, you're best to get plugged into Newell's techs for a few reasons.

1. It's daunting for the faint of heart non-techie.
2. The Licensing through the network systems, such as Cradlepoint, are group managed by them so it's best to consult regarding access, passwords, etc. since Newell can help you a LOT more in the future if you stay with the info they have for you coach.
3. The Crestron software MUST BE SET UP according to the IP addresses programmed into the CRESTRON main unit by Firefly. They'll put a sticker on that unit with the IP addresses and PW for setup.
4. The are different Crestron apps, including ones you MUST purchase INDIVIDUALLY for the iPhone and iPad versions. You may have gotten tangled up in that web, too.

Now for the bad news, which I can't be sure of. IF YOU DID get the correct app, and it's NOT backward compatible, you're going to have a real hard time backing the iPad back down to iOS 13. So, be prepared for that concern. I'm hoping you've just got the wrong app installed.

My boys at Newell will help you get straightened out.

Hi everyone who weighed in
I think and read that I have made quite the mess

On my way home from the Keys my drivers side slide sprung a leak so now I have many reasons to have to drive to Oklahoma and have them help me undo my messes.

Appreciate everyone’s time and input to help explain.

I am already planning a trip in March to the mother ship??

Blessings
Manuel

Not speaking for everyone here but I'm a deer in the headlights most of the time but when folks with newer coaches post about issues I'm glad we have Steve and Jim to pick up the slack.
