My 2nd ever post in so many minutes.
My 89 Widebody has an annoying air leak from the wiper switches. Takes a bit of fiddling to get them to stop. I’m sure it’s the seals but I don’t know where to start looking to fix , replace or switch to electric?
Thank you for any thoughts on the subject.

I don't know anything about your switch.
Here is the approach I would take:
Remove the switch and look for any identification.
If it has numbers google them, don't forget to take a picture and use google lens also.
Take it apart, you may find standard o rings and seals.
Join the Wanderlodge forum, use the search engine for air wiper switch. Those boys have a ton of documentation on the 80s era stuff. A lot of it is common to the Newells also.
And mosey on over to the new member introduction.
The more we know about you the better we can help you.
Location,
Why Newell?
Intended use?
Any previous RV motorhome, airplane, boat experience?
Comfort level with mechanical and electrical things?
No judgement in the questions at all, it does help the responders tailor their answer to the question. Right now, you are new, and we don't know if you spent your life in accounting or building NASCAR race engines.

I think you are going to need to look at some truck suppliers for air wiper parts. The air wiper valves are known to leak, I had an 86 MCI that had air wipers and just like you said, I had one valve that leaked and you could fiddle with it and get it to stop. Basically they need to be rebuilt or replaced. Like others said you can pull them apart and see what is inside for replacement. Sprague is a fairly common brand for the air wiper valve.

BTW I have an 86 and it has the same problem, as well as issues with the wipper arms. Does anyone know where we can find parts for these old air wiper systems?

Terry, not sure where you are located but if your on the east coast you could reach out to Luke at US Coach in Vineland, NJ (856) 794-3104. He is a wealth of knowledge on old bus parts, you’re going to have to find out what kind of air wiper parts you have though, he mainly deals with over the road type buses, am sure he is not going to know what your Newell needs.
