I still, remarkably, have the original gas (only) water heater in my coach....it is now 31 years old, and still going strong. This morning I got up and started the coffee percolator on the stove. I usually put hot water in our coffee cups to preheat them, but when I turned on the hot water I only got lukewarm. About once, or twice a month the pilot light will go out and so I just thought that is what happened and went outside to relight it. It would light, but would not stay on once I released the button. About a year ago I had to remove the pilot light "nozzle" as it was clogged, and was able to clear it out, so I though this was the problem again....the pilot light was there, but seemed smaller than normal.

However that was not the problem. After re-installing it the pilot light, while a little bigger, would still not stay lit. Okay.....maybe it's the thermal coupling....fortunately we were about half a block from a Home Depot....took about 10 minutes to install the new one, and it worked!!! Only cost 11 bux....nice when it is a simple fix.

All that being said, I am going to work on getting a new water heater installed after Spearfish....no point in waiting for the inevitable failure.

I'm trying to go thru and read the majority of threads in order to learn, and also not ask the same questions that have been asked before. Problem seems to be, the more I try to learn, the mores questions that keep coming to mindDodgy

After settling in our summer spot I went to dump the holding tank which should have had been around 3/4 full as the fresh was around 1/4 full. All I got was a little less than 1/4. I looked at the sight glass in the bay before dumping and it showed about that, less than 1/4. I thought maybe it was clogged so connected the hose and back flushed the sight glass and it still showed the same. The fresh water tank was topped off and both dump valves were closed and capped. When I run water in the black tank I could hear what sounded like an empty tank.
This is a mystery. I don't believe it is clogged because what was in there came out ok.
Anyone ever experience such a thing?

Brad

Today I noticed the microphor toilet not keeping water in the bowl. Poured a little veggie oil but that didn't do anything. Later noticed the gasket on the flapper looked like it was unseated in its groove. I shut off the water and was able to push it back in place and also poured some vinegar and let it sit for a few minutes then scrubbed the surface with a toothbrush to remove the calcium build-up. I also put a little vaseline on the gasket surface.
Just glad we caught it before we flushed the gasket down into the tank!

Hi All,

Well I am thinking of attending this august gathering and wanted to know of how much interest there might be in three areas.

First, since most of you like to do your own work, I can offer an Aqua Hot seminar that would include general operation and maintenance plus answers to questions. I can also bring a burner and show how to disassemble and rebuild it too. We could ask Forest or Ashley to donate their coach for describing what and where all the components are and perhaps hold the seminar in front of that coach.

So how many might wish to attend such a presentation?

Second, I have parts with me all the time and would be interested if anyone wished me to perform any type of Aqua Hot service for them. If interested, a hint of what service would insure I show up with enough parts for the requests. A rally special could be offered.

Finally, I can also offer a water vs waterless wash seminar as my very good friend in San Antonio is the inventor and manufacture of Wash Wax All that is used to wash and wax Air Force One and the other squadron planes. If there is any interest in that presentation, I would need to get some items for the show and tell.

So please be so kind as to let me know what, if any, would help you all.

Just joined today, thought I'd make my 1st post/question about something that confuses and frightens the dickens out of me, automotive type wiring/electrical.

I need to wire in a brake controller so I can tow a trailer. I know that Newell provides relays in the front in the passenger compartment, and they connect to the relays in the engine compartment. I do have a 7 wire connecter by the tow hitch, and the brake, turn signals etc are working. I was told Newell has wires that are already in place that run from the front of the coach to the back, true?
That is the extent of my knowledge!
Does it matter what 12v power wire I splice into to power the brake controller?
What do I splice into to enable the brake controller to actuate the connecter in the tow connector? I'm pretty stupid when it comes to electrical, so specifics help if it's possible.
I have a Tekonsha P3 brake controller.
thanks for any help or advice
John

Gang,

When I drive at night, I get a terrible reflection in the drivers side window. My headlights are so bright that the road reflects in the side window and makes it almost impossible to see whats in the mirror.

I tried to get one of those screen protector films made for an iPad. It did indeed cut the reflection, but also made it impossible to see the mirror at all. I need to find some way of killing reflections while remaining clear.

Have any of you guys had a similar problem? Any solution comes to mind?

Cheers,
bill
