Landing Lights led replacement?
#1

I would like to replace my landing lights and am wondering if I can replace only the bulbs (and how the heck do you get them out of the rubber casing?) or do I just buy new ones?  Anyone with a model number or source for buying these?

I had one go out and could not remove it from the rubber housing so I replaced the whole unit with an LED light I found at a local Semi Truck chrome shop. I don't have a part number or product name but it looks great. I will try to get a picture of it next time I am at my coach.

Look on West Marine website for docking lights.

Yep, those are typically boat hull lights. Not cheap though.

Found by @"smagown" a few years ago.

They fit in the rubber housing, or at least the ones I bought did.

So lets quid pro quo, has anyone found the rubber boot? I have looked high and low, I need one.

Richard have you looked at what Betts, Trucklite, and Grote has for the grommet (rubber boot)? They have some open back ones but don't you need the closed back type?

Here's a closed-back housing that could possibly be modified. https://www.amazon.com/Grote-64930-Utili...B000FBSUQU

Tried the open back. Holds the the light but does not fit up like the original. The replacement boot needs the defined flange to work right

V-Star Par 36 15w, about $17 on Amazon. I was able to reuse my closed-back housings, it took a few hours to do the job because of the short wire length and difficulty of getting the housings off. Put a towel or padding down, I dropped one and broke the front glass. They really light up compared to the old incandescent bulbs. PAR 36 is the bulb designation.

A plastic spudger and and dawn dish soap will loosen the rubber to glass bond.
