I believe I have finally finished my solar project. Added another 645 watts of panels on the roof after removing the TV antenna and putting some panels around the roof air. I was blown away at the power output today. Peaked at 3200 watts but we had many high thin clouds. All in all, I spent about 15k on this project. Victron is not cheap but it just works. I have done testing to see if one honda generator will run it which it does in a pinch if the main generator conks out. Victron is adjustable for amperage input so it will not overload a generator, pedestal or a 15 amp extension cord as it goes into assist with power and batteries to keep everything running. Roof air is working well and was a cost effective solution. I will look for alternative cargo bay mounted a/c for the front area. Today I enjoyed the solitude unlit coach. Fell asleep on the couch for a couple hours. Not something I do at all. Felt guilty when I got up at 5pm!

I have searched and searched but I can not seem to find any information or discussion regarding ceramic film on the windows!?! Has no one done this yet? I am debating between making exterior window covers or installing ceramic film/tint.
There are obvious pros and cons to each.
Just looking for others opinions regarding such

Hello Gurus,
What seems to be the choice synthetic lube for the rear differential oil change?  From what I can gather it takes 5 gallons for a complete oil change.....is that correct?

Anyone considering this Rally in Grove OK? We've stopped at the RV park and it looks nice, I think a lot of Newell owners stop there on the way to the plant.

Had the Engine light and Emissions light come on and the torque immediately derated.  This is the Def problem where it does an initial derate and then if you keep driving it will eventually derate to 5 MPH.  I made it to the campground and using Cummins Insite was able to clear the codes but haven't resolved the problem.

Cummins ISX CM2250
Codes 3258 FMI5 SPN4340, Aftertreatment 1 DEF Line Heater 1 Circuit Current below normal or open circuit
3261 FMI 5 SPN 4342 Heater 2 Circuit same detail
3425 FMI 5 SPN 4344 Heater 3 Circuit, same detail
3714 FMI 31 SPN 1569 Engine Protection Torque Derate

edit to reflect current status. The auto reset DEF Line Heater fuse is in the engine compartment fuse box, it checks good but I changed that fuse to a normal fuse.  Line heaters ohms check good.  Could be caused by a bad DEF Controller also.  Travelling today........

Suggestions?

All -

Just got what seems to be a good deal so I thought I would share.  Full disclosure - I have no affiliation with the company and am not being compensated.

I'm buying 6 new AGM 8d house batteries and asked for a bulk sale deal.  Counter guy asked if I had a company (I do) so he created a COD business account on the spot and sold them to me for the business price (some $75 less per battery). (I understand the batteries aren't lifelines but I have a very dead battery that needs to be replaced NOW and these are US built Deka batteries for less than half of the cost of Lifelines so I'm going to give them a try).  You might also note that the core is only $22 for a 150# battery - if I had the time I would recycle them myself and save another  $50/battery.

Probably worth asking if you are looking at a large ticket purchase.

R/S,

db

Have issue with air bags not inflating.compressor works and mechanic states that it could be a stuck PPV valve? But he can’t get to it because it’s located on the inside of the frame rail and they don’t have a pit. Any suggestions?

Does anyone know of a good Newell certified mechanic they could recommend in the Chicago area?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Ole

heck all,

I noticed a slight leaning to the right at the rear of the coach before our trip this past weekend. I did some quick checking to see if I could find any air leaks but didn't. With the coach fully aired up, I took some quick measurements of the height between the edge of the fender and the ground. The right side was sitting about 1.5 lower than the left. I still had plenty of clearance between the tire and the fender.

I stopped several times during my trip (3 hours) to check on things, but everything seemed okay. At the campground, the site was sloped down from front to rear so I had to lower it all the way in the front and raise it almost all the way in the rear. Got everything all leveled out no problem. During the 4 nights we were at the campground, my compressor only came on a few times and not for very long. No more so than normal.

Based on this, I don't think I have any major air leaks (I hope).  I am getting ready to install the Airforce One brake system in a week or so and will be spending plenty of time under the coach (fully cribbed of course). I plan to do a more thorough inspection of all my air lines and get into all the tight spots with my leak detector.

Is it possible that I am having issues with the Ride Height Control Valve? If so, what should I be looking for? I have a new one in my spare parts kit but I have never installed one.

Thanks,

Just got back from a long weekend in the Blue Ridge Mountains.  I had two electrical issues while on the trip.
1. No power to the microwave. First, I checked to see if the breaker was not tripped. Nope it was fine. I then pulled the panel cover above the microwave and tested the receptacle and found out I had no power. Just for kicks and grins, I plugged the microwave into an extension cord and then to a different receptacle. Micro worked fine. The microwave is on a breaker by itself.

2. Next morning, went to make coffee. The regular plug in for the coffee maker is the receptacle on the underside of the upper cabinets. Again, no power. Checked to see if the breaker was tripped and found that it was not.

I then checked every other receptacle in the entire coach, and they all worked.

Strange that these two would go out at the same time. Can't remember a trip where we didn't use the microwave or the coffee pot (using the previously mentioned receptacle).

Any electrical leaning Gurus care to take a stab at this? Coud it be bad breakers?

Thanks

When the grey water bypass is not engaged. As in I don't have the sewer hose connected and the bypass is not open. My toilet spits back when flushed.
Lots of air comes back into the bowl when the flapper is opened.

It's like the chamber below the toilet is pressurized before the waste is allowed into the chamber. The air that is forced up through the bowl is also very smelly, no matter what was in the bowl before flushing.

This is not happening 100% of the time. But 100% of the time that I have the hose connected and the bypass valve open it never happens.

Do you think I have a clogged vent? Should I run a snake down from the roof?

Is it something else?
