Just for information's sake, I just insured #369 (1994) 45' for $60k agreed value, full coverage. $2500 deductible comp/collision, $0 glass deductible. 100/300 liability. $1130/year. I'm in GA.
Not sure if the owner of this particular Newell is a NewellGurus forum participant, but I was in my '86 Classic on I-5 South, a little north of Longview Washington today and was passed by a BEAUTIFUL Newell Coach. He gave me the "hang loose" wave as he passed by. It's great to be part of a select group of individuals who really love their coaches. :-)
Hello, everyone.
As the subject suggests, I am trying to access the wiring for the controls to driver's left (toll window and nav screen switches in particular). Both items worked prior to service at a truck yard that involved troubleshooting wiring to the transmission control and there is now no power at the power window unit (fuse has continuity) so I suspect someone did not properly reassemble in their haste to close things up. I want to assume that the beauty cover simply pulls away and thereby provices access, but I would very much appreciate confirmation or correction before damaging anything.
Thanks in advance for any knowledge.

This is a two part thread. One is the accomplishment and the other is a question. I found one available Penguin II 15k btu unit nearby at a small RV dealer. I paid probably $400 more than buying it online, but they had it and I took it home. Got the hole measured, cut and wired in 2 hours with the a/c on the roof the next morning with my neighbors forklift. It's hot as blazes out here. I am happy with the install but waiting on a wifi thermostat to arrive next week. In the meantime, I have the rear t-stat which is the ccc Dometic with the 4 pin RJ11 plug as a test mule. I ran a blue cat5 wire from the t-stat location to the roof air all fished through the ceiling. I need to convert the blue, blue white/ orange/orange white to the black, red, green, yellow of the phone plug that I cut off from a phone patch cord. Not sure how to wire that since Dometic shows the plug in opposite orientations. Can someone spell out how I need to wire the t-stat color code? I can decipher the dometic wiring to my cat5 colors.
Hey all,
Been awhile, but that is a good thing. Everything has been working great with the coach.
My toad died a few weeks (timing belt broke and smoked the engine). Crappy timing since we were on a trip to Hilton Head Island when it happened. Anyway, I am picking up my new Bronco next Saturday, which will now become my daily driver and mytoad.
Currently I have the M&G brake system installed on my coach and I love it. Richard was a huge help when I did the install a few years ago and provided much needed guidance. However, for the new toad, I am changing to the Air Force One Brake System.
Wondering if anyone has any words of wisdom, tips or special insights on the coach side install.
Will keep you posted on my progress.
Can anyone identify the year of this unit by its paint scheme?
Thanks
Jeff
After last years trip of all failures, I decided to pack a small generator on board. Before my last trip, I bought a new harbor freight 2000 watt inverter generator. When we made it to NM, my main generator refused to start so I pulled out my new harbor freight backup. Of course that failed to make any juice. Learned my lesson. Spend the money on something that gets 87% + positive reviews. I purchased this Honda EU2200i at Camping world where they had it on sale for $1099 last week. That is the best price I have found for a new unit. It works great and along with it, I picked up a 3 gallon tank and extended run kit. I ran the generator to see if it could power the inverter but alas, it is just not enough if I keep the a/c's running with battery assist despite setting the inverter to accept no more than 13.5 amps. I might do another test since I had a large battery maintainer/charger plugged in that was outside of the inverter's load calculating draw. Does anyone else carry a portable? Wondering if I should pick up a second unit to pair up with this one.
I am still struggling with getting the bags to fill on this 96. I was able to supply 50amp shore power to try and get the 110v Compressor to run.
How do I turn it on?
I hooked up shop air as well, and nothing is happening.
I had a tech out and they said the engine compressor is not working, they left the hose off. But when I started it up, it was absolutely pushing air out, so Im not sure what happened there.
Should I disconnect the air fitting on the 110V compressor and hook up shop air there? Would that help to diagnose anything?
Thank you.
I cannot get toad lights to work. Have ruled out cable issues, have hooked up a different toad and still won’t work so I am assuming it is the Coach and not the toad as issue. I can find fuse box for tow lights ( brake lights, turn signal, running lights, etc. ) and all fuses are fine. I cannot find an individual fuse or breaker for the tow plug? Is there anything I am missing ?
Thanks for any help.
The Allison shop that replaced my Allison 4000 transmission advised me that the old style TCM is guaranteed to fail. I took that advice and had them replace it. Apparently the bonding material between the connector and the body of the TCM fails which causes broken connections internally. That's the way I understood it. This place is busy with tow trucks dragging in every kind of truck and busses all day and night. They had TCM's everywhere I looked and said they commonly replace a dozen a day.
If you have that TCM you may want consider that and do your research.
