I sent in an oil sample to a local lab in Phoenix. (Lab One, Inc)
They sent me the results yesterday with Iron (FE) and Tin (SE) being slightly elevated. 49 for Iron and 11 for Tin. What is a normal range for wear? This sample was taken after a 5800 mile drive. I bought the coach with 125,000 miles and it sat for three years with little use since previous owner had changed the oil with the proper straight weight Chevron 40 as noted in the receipts I found.
Hello Gurus!
Anyone know of a supplier for the 1” trim that goes around the cabinets (pic below)? I am wanting to “de-Vegas” the coach and replace the gold with a matte black or wood grain pattern.
Is this something I will have to get from Newell or do y’all know of any alternative suppliers?
Thanks and have a great day!
Paul
Would like to ask the Gurus about updating the interior soft goods. Has anyone received an estimate or completed a soft goods interior updating at Newell or Motorhomes of Texas? I know Simon has shared the cost of his beautiful updating so that gives me an idea of what's involved with an owner's participation.

What is the availability and cost for the right side windshield for a 1986 Newell.
Thank you,
Jeff
I was putting in some diesel fuel additive and noticed these two relays over the fuel tank on the right side. I do not know what these are for. Also there is a stack of cut wiring. Haven't checked for voltage on those. Interesting. Any insights?
Just wanted to say, I had to change my bank draft account for the TSD Fuel Savings card. One phone call, over the phone with TSD and some verifications a done deal! Kudos to TSD for their promptness and customer support. Still loving the savings at the pump!
I went to take my coach out for a look at my rear camera last month and the passenger rear side was down. I limped in and the guys in Sanford were not capable of trouble shooting, so I limped it back home to Titusville. Now the 3 bags are down completely. I will talk to Newell this afternoon. Not sure if I'm capable, and unsure if there is anyone mobile that knows Newells. More to come...
While I was doing some cleaning up under the bus, I pressed against a hose and heard air escaping. There is a line that goes from the aux air tank manifold at the rear of the coach and to the shifter. I am not sure why they have a rubber line tied into the hose. Can I just have a new hose made in one piece and skip the short rubber section? I was thinking braided stainless. There is space behind the shifter module but the only way to remove/install the hose is by removing the shifter from the transmission. I had to cut off one bolt for removal. Either way, I always replace hardware. What is the consensus of going with a one piece hose?
The original black toilet had bad water stains and also its pneumatic so we decided to put in a macerator toilet, we rebuilt the air part of the old toilet and going to remove all the guts from the old black toilet and willing to give to a guru plus postage if anyone needs these parts although Richard has first dibs if he want them he's local. The old bowl will be in the dumpster, there is a good black ceramic lid.
After removing the toilet the first thing I did and clean up the pneumatic part and simplifying the system going to the 12v pump, the prior owners just put screws into the 1/4" line and left it at that.
Installing the new unit was easy but the foot print is much smaller than the old toilet although its the same height its a shorter bowl, this leaves us with some interior decorating to tend to to cover up where the big toilet sat and also there is no tank area like on the old so it sticks out from the wall to much.
I tapped into the aquahot main 12v feed for the fresh water pump and also the macerator control, I went with the fresh water pump rather than a solenoid valve to turn on and off the water just so you will not have to have a pressurized line all the time to use the toilet, seemed safer this way.
I used 1/2 pex as it was limber enough to get into the 3/4 female NPT fitting at the top of the tank where the aquahot bay has a fill for the passenger side, this was a good place to suck from the bottom of the tank, also I put in a check valve to prevent backflow and keep the pump primed all the time.
Overall it took half a day and 6 trips to the little hardware store here at Cedar Key FL. Today is tidy up day.
If you notice some extra pex and rubber hoses, I've been experimenting with a direct diesel water heater to make an on demand water heater.
I've seen a number of Coaches from the 2000 year vintage range with wheels mounted at the rear of the frame to keep from dragging on inclines. I don't recall seeing these on newer coaches with the ZF suspension components. Just wondering if the chassis changed at the same time ZF was incorporated.
