Can anyone help with the correct part number for the palm valve that opens the air operated generator compartment on a 1996 Newell?
I read another post regarding it showing 3, but just wondering if anyone has had the experience of changing out the right one the first time.
Here is a pic of mine...
Thanks!

Gurus,

Just left a truck stop on hwy 29, just north of Kansas City. The power steering went out as we turned out of the lot. I read some posts here and obviously checkedbhyd fluid uts ok. Then pulled the control for the fan solenoid. No difference. The fan was not running anyway. My guess at this point is the hydraulic pump. It shares a spot with the fuel pump on some sort of internal connection with the engine. Fuel pump works, hyd pump not.

Out of ideas now. We were on a last leg to Newell, about 180 miles north of them. Any thoughts??

It has been turning over and running great all week and all of a sudden today it turns over great but does not fire up the only thing I noticed is that the engine check light does not come on when I turn the key on.
Has 1/4 tank of fuel, good battery.
Ive only done 2 things since yesterday when it was starting right up fine.
I changed the governor.
And I  changed all the house batteries, but after doing so, none of my DC powered items work, which is another problem all it own.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
John

Well after I almost burned the coach to the ground on our last trip I’m swapping out the current cooktop for an induction and need a better understanding on how to wire 120 when there is currently 240.

Also want to figure out if it can be run via inverter?

And no, current cooktop did not cause almost fire…the idiot who had a burner knob set on 9 with a closed lid did.  It was almost a bad deal.  Thankfully Corian has a high combustion point. Finding a piece of 20 year old bone colored Corian hat been the toughest part.

Well the time has come. I need to replace the 4 air bags on the drive axle. I did the front and tag last winter and I am pretty familiar with this process but I do have a few questions for anyone who has done the drive bags. getting to the 2 back side bags looks pretty easy, getting the lines off and pulling the fitting so you can drop the bag. but looking at the 2 front drive bags it looks nearly impossible to get up in there and get the lines off extremly tight area. Any suggestions from someone who has tackled this job would be greatly appreciated. ON the last bags I did I had to get up there with a blow torch to heat the fittings so they would come loose. doesnt look like enough room to do that on the front drive bags. Please drop me a pm, I can give ya my phone number or give me yours. bag has blown so gotta get done.  Thank you.  Richard I know I saw a post from you about doing them..

If you were starting with a blank canvas, what are the conveniences you just have to have?  What could you simply just do without?

We are completely resto-modding a 76 coach.  This is our first rv, so I am trying to get things right the first time.

Do you use the open, or would a cook top and air fryer be enough?  More or less outlets?  I'm planning on putting outlets with usb plugs right in them throughout.

I am thinking about mini splits for heat and ac just not 100% sure on those yet.

Multiple cameras vs just a single back up cam?

That type of thing.

Saw this sweet 2025 Newell yesterday at Victirian Acres RV Park in Nebraska City, Ne. We had been here for several days and were having a happy hour drink when it got happier. Our site us at the end of a line of campsites, and they paraded right un front of us. The couple just picked their rig up at the factory, and were on their maiden voyage. They were headed north and west next.

So my front SCS AC isn't working. Might be low on refringent again. I have had it filled once and it was a chore finding anyone to do that work. None the less it is apparently leaking. So I don't feel like repeating that chore over and again.

So until I can find an installer willing to do the Mr. Cool transplant, I purchased a LG 7000 BTU portable unit. It's a 90F day in full sun and the front room is comfortable. Not chilly but a reasonable 76F. I have it sitting behind the co piolet seat. I routed the exhaust hose out the front side window. I'll get some ridge foam and make an adapter. What comes with the unit is not made for horizontal sliders.

Works well enough while parked but will prove to be useless while driving.

Anyway thought I would share this temporary partial solution. It gives me confidents that the 24k Mr. Cool should be well sufficient

I have owned #410 since Jan. 2022. I have all the original build plans, bill of sale, all the receipts and documents of work done since 1996 to date.  DD series 60 runs greats, genny too, and drives beautifully. Replaced all the tires, batteries with Battleborn Lithium, 2 inverters to go with the batteries. Newell replaced the basement a/c with LG mini-split and is wonderful.
I have lots of pictures and attached a fact sheet.  198k miles, non-smoking, stays under cover when not in use.
Asking $76,000, or reasonable offer.  Thank you~

As many remember I had the coach painted last October at CDI. Over the winter the paint wrinkled in some spots where the horizontal trim meets the aluminum skin. I believed this to be caused by the different thickness metals expanding and contracting over the winter. I also believe the issue is where the paint and clear coat flowed from the side skin into the little shelf made by the side molding. CDI sent two reps to my house in January and we all confirmed that is what was going on. Fast forward to today where I scheduled a time with them to bring the coach so they could take care of this. There were around 20 spots where this happened which really warranted a trip to a professional place. Some of the defects were right in the graphic design or where the paint faded. Not something that I would let a local mobile guy try to fix. I drove from Phx to Iowa last Saturday and arrived on Sunday at 11:20am. On Monday they took the coach right in despite the rains that ensued overnight. I am staying at a local hotel which is about 3 miles away. I did not tow a car but instead brought my e-bike. CDI gave me a loaner car. They have been great to deal with and found some more spots I didn't see around the windows. Jason, the plant manager and I went to lunch and talked about family and business. He is just a really great human being and truly down to earth. I appreciated his time and lunch treat. Tom McCloud recommended some places to eat and one of them was Awe'z sandwich shop where they serve up an amazing ground beef sandwich. It is basically a sloppy Joe without the sloppy sauce. I was in heaven and ordered a second meal to go for the hotel. The people of Iowa are just so nice and friendly. I visited a few parks in the area and have been at peace with myself. Marie didn't come along on this trip since we need her to keep working! Incidentally, I forgot my TSD fuel card at home. Nonetheless I have been finding diesel is still cheap at mom and pop truck stops where it would cost about the same or less than the TSD discount. $3.29 and $3.11 have been my two per gallon price top offs along the way. There is another Newell here that has been painted that I will meet the owner of tomorrow. His coach turned out beautiful. His is a 2007 I believe.
