My problem has been finding someone even willing to take on the job.
I've had some ridiculous conversations with various shops over the past week.
Them: "We don't service generators beyond oil changes". Me: "I don't want you to fix the generator, I want you to put a lift under it and pull it out to get to the hydraulic ram." Them: "But it's a generator and we don't service generators except for oil changes". Rinse. Repeat.
Them: "We refuse to work on anything over 10 years old". Me: ????
Them: "We're scheduling in December".
I am getting kind of close to going the Richard recommendation and using my air bags and some wood cribbing to pull it out and take the ram to a hydraulic shop.
