I just replaced the motor, gear box, and controller in our coach for less than $200.
Here are two manuals or documents I used to troubleshoot the mechanism.
Previously my step wouldn't come in and I reseated the relays in the storage bay immediately to the front of the door. That worked for a while.
*important note about the motor hardware: The screws supplied with the motor are longer than they need to be. One will interfere with the gear and prohibit the step from moving only a few inches. I put a flat and a lock washer on that screw to gain clearance and the step works as it should.
