Air Compressor questions
#11

Yep there is a major leak which appears to be in the front area. I'll have to build some "wooden steps" to drive up on to get her high enough to get under. Just another on a long list of projects!

Hi Larry
If that front air manifold is aluminum and the dump valve is stuck open you could thread a self-tapping screw into the air outlet hole as a temporary "fix".
Also. Do you know anybody in the tristate area that works on the Xantrex invertor/chargers? My 458 is acting up.

There's a fellow in Indiana who does Xantrex repairs. His name is Mike LaVine, (260) 433-3730 is his cell, [email protected] is supposed to be his email and 16026 E Tillman Rd, Ft Wayne‎ IN‎ 46816
is his address. I have not yet used him, but need to. Both of my 458's have issues.

Thanks Dean, I'll have to wait till Monday to get under the coach to examine. Busy Family weekend. I had my inverter worked on by a fellow in Goshen, In. some years ago. I can't remember the name, but I'll do some research and see if I can find the receipt. He was very good and was recommended by the manufacturer.

Well,, back to square 1. There is no leak after the brake tanks are full. The 110v compressor runs but no air goes into the system. I pulled the air line from the 110v compressor and there is air flowing. I can stop the air coming out with my finger but can just barely hold it. I'm thinking that should be enough to put something in the tank in front of the rear wheel, but there is nothing in it. Newell service suspects the Bendix distribution valve located above the cross member between the drive and tag axle may be the culprit, however I'm not yet convinced. That is a major job to change and I wouldn't want to do a "trial and error" repair. I'm not sure I could do it and I can't air up to take it to my service people. Any thoughts?

Larry there is a guy who works as a mechanic at Ricks truck service in Kendallville. He does mobile repair. I am not familiar with his work but based on talking with him I judge him to be a straight shooter. His name is Glenn. His number is 260-242-3155.

Can you access the rear six pack? Tee into the supply line to the six pack. Inflate that with your home compressor. Or access any other convenient spot. Have you tried the air hose connection at the rear for use as an input point? Pressuring the distribution valve from the supply side just may unstick it. Let me know if this brief explanation typed on my phone doesn't make sense

If you pressurize the six pack. You'll have to use the manual up buttons to get air into the air bags

Thanks Dean and Richard for your input. I talked to Mike at Newell today and he feels it may just be the air dryer. He said the engine compressor and the 110v compressor both run thru the dryer while the brakes are aired up direct. I'll take a line off of the dryer first to see if there is air coming thru. I did try to air up the system thru the rear input point and that did nothing. I would imagine that runs thru the dryer also. I'll keep posting until it is fixed.

Can you clarify on did nothing? When you hooked into the aux air supply did the compressor build pressure but the coach did not show pressure. OR the compressor would not build any pressure. Answers to that question may hold a big clue.

Richard, the compressor built up to 120psi and shut off but the coach showed no pressure on the supply side. There was 0 air in the small tank in front of the pass side drive wheel as well.
