A fellow Guru pointed out that this coach had not been posted on the site so a big thanks for the heads up.

Detroit S60, 6 speed Allison, laminate flooring in salon. Interesting addition of fireplace in the center console.

I have been a long term fan of these all metal HCVs. I have installed them on two coaches and never touched them after the initial setting.

Over the years, I have had several Newell owners tell me that they bought them and they didn't work on their coach.  Hmmmmmmmm.

At the no rally rally a new owner asked that we look at his coach because the ride height was inconsistent. He also said he had new KOTR HCVs. If he lowered the coach and then put in travel, the backend would not raise. If he raised the coach and then went to travel, the rear  remained in the raise position.   Looking into the wheel wells showed the HCVs were mounted upside down. And no leveling function whatsoever.

But, the KOTR valves are specified as right and left valves. The upside down valves were on the correct side of the coach according to their part numbers. But........simply turning them right side up made them not fit at all. What..........

Quick trip to my rig, and lo and behold I have the right on the left and the left on the right. Meaning I don't read the instructions often, but my setup works.

So we flip flopped the valves and got the coach road ready.

I sent a nice love letter to the KOTR engineer asking him what was up with their literature. The short version if the response, on a Saturday no less, was that the right and left designation is for which way the arm faces, not the side the valve mounts on.  Five year mystery solved for me, and hopefully less confusion in the future.

It doesn't forgive the shop, that originally installed them and didn't bother to see if they worked.

LLast night my coach 12 volt lights dimmed. Everything else on coach seemed ok. TV, fridge
AC all worked. This morning the lights again dimmed AND the dash light for preheat came on

When I stopped for fuel about mid day and started the coach to depart fuel stop the dash phone
Rang. The AC, lights and fridge are still working ok

We decided to stop for the evening at TN/AL border. Parked the coach, shut down the
Gen just as the Gen Man said .... Hooked up things and found we had no lights no fridge
The inverter was not working

I said a few bad words and started getting out my tool box

We now have lights, a working fridge and othe nice things that require electric power

Did I hear someone ask “what was the fix?”

After some thinking and stressing my brain I walked around the coach to the battery
Compartment opened the door and RESET the disconnect ...LOL
Some how some way that had tripped and shut off all coach power

Guess I got lucky this time..... BUT I still must put all the stuff back in tool box

These valves leak over time & need replacement.  This part number is for the valve minus the coils which unscrew from the current valve and screw onto this new one.  Normally the coils are good, so no need to cut into the electrical.

It is a Ingersoll Rand Part #A212SD-OOO-N

I ordered from Zoro and received it in one day.

Replacing the starter on the Kohler 12.5 kw generator in my 86 coach . Old starter is a Delco Remy which has " S" and "R" terminals on the solenoid . The "S" terminal connects to #5 wire from the control unit, obviously the start wire. The "R" terminal connects to # 8 wire and the wire to the run/stop solenoid. The replacement starter has only a single terminal for start .
My question : Can I simply connect the # 8 and run/stop wires to the starter field terminal ? Or should I add a relay to power said wires when starter switch is engaged ?
Would rather not smoke the controller or other parts .
Thank you,
Chris

On my coach the red level light stays on when the key is on or running. Not sure what the light is for?
