Have the standard 12.5kw Kohler genset in our '87 Newell. Looking to either rebuild or replace the controller.

Ran across this controller that I'm looking @ for a replacement - but if I can find a 'kit' w/all the relays switches I might go that route also.

Any advice/opinions?

I used to have a 1988 Newell 40' single axle, #174 if I remember correctly.  We loved it, used it a lot for about 8 years, and sold it after buying a 1999 Prevost XL40 Royale.  Have enjoyed it as well for about 4 years, but are now considering newer, 2001 to maybe 2008 - Newell again this time.  45 will probably be all there is, and everything of those years will have slides I imagine.  I am not familiar with that many coaches with slides, but most I have been in are not very usable until the slides are out.  We often stop in rest areas, Cracker Barrels, state parks, etc., often for one night only, and will not be opening the slides for various reasons.  I have seen a 2 slide Newell with both slides street side, and it was still quite roomy unopened. Have not been inside one, but have also seen 3 slide floor plans with 2 of the slides in the rear bedroom, along each side of the bed, and it would seem to work okay while closed.  Anyway, I wanted to rejoin your group and go back to learning from you while shopping for a Newell.  Thanks for your group and help.

What are some of using out there to detail your coachs? I have been using protect all which is applied with a applicator pad and polished within a half a minute with a micro fibre towel. All though this product does have some problems with hard water spots and moisture that runs off the roof ect. With so many products out there could some of you share your best product.  From posts in the past diamond brite I believe its called is the best for our rims but I could use some TLC ideas for the coach. Took our 1982 Newell over to All Aboard America in Mesa, AZ Thursday (January 12th) to have the drive train inspected and serviced.  Leo was our mechanic......Leo and Tom (our Tom) have become good friends over the years, and Leo really knows Detroit Diesel 2 strokes.  Had the oil changed, oil filter changed, fuel filters changed (I changed the tranny filter about 8,000 miles ago), replaced 23 gallons of coolant, inspected the brakes, steering gear, u joints, air bags, differential, lubed everything.  After that Leo got to work on figuring out why my 'Jake' brake stopped working.  He quickly found a wire had become disconnected and re-attached it, but wanted to keep the coach overnight to be sure that was the entire problem.  Very happy with the service, and being able to be right there while he did the work.  I learned a lot!

Last summer I acquired what appears to be a complete set of Detroit Diesel 8V71 engine wraps for the cost of shipping.  Initially I was under the impression these were for a 6V92 engine like mine so I paid the shipping.  Since an V8 is longer than a V6 most of them will not fit. I believe they will also fit a 8V92. Attached are pictures.  If you are interested you may also have them for the cost of shipping. The shipping cost from zip code 77379 to 96150 was approximately $85 .

What is everyone finding as a difference between the Cat 625 and the Detroit 505 for fuel mileage?

I currently have a 2007 American Coach Eagle with a Cummins 500 and get about 5.5 running 70 MPH pulling about #5500
I have friends with newer coaches that had the Cummins 600 and they are getting in the mid to high 6's running same speed and towing slightly less.

Just curious what the big Cats and the Detroits are getting. I am not sure when Newell switched or if the Cat was an option. But I am looking at a 2006 with a series 60 and an 06 with the C-15.
