Forum: Parts Swap/Giveaway/Sell
- Replies (4)

hi all,

i bought a case of these things many years ago for my 90 newell.  they are brand new.  i have 40 of them.  i am cleaning up my newell parts and saw i had these sitting in a box i had not looked at in years.

the pictures show the length and they have the ends on them as well.  they are 17" long fully extended.  they fit my 90 perfectly.  they are 365newtons force, which translates to 82 pounds.  my 90 had 75 pound struts on it originally.  since every newell seems to be a little different i dont know what years they fit.  you would have to measure your struts to know if these would work.

i will sell them for 7 bucks a piece plus actual shipping.  since they are long, the cheapest way i saw to ship them was via USPS flat rate box at around 19 bucks and that would fit all 40 of them if anyone wanted all of them.  i live in the country so it is an hour or more driving time round trip to anywhere but the post office.  so i would like to ship usps.

tom

Just saw a newer Newell pull into the Rociada RV park where we've been for 2 weeks.  I'll try to walk over later but we're leaving tomorrow.

"been in the same park for 2 months. Every time it gets hot and busy here I start busting breakers at the pole. Today The breaker  had tripped 3 times. I had reduced An ac each time. When it broke for the third time I turned the generator on and had no problems running everything. 30 mins later when I reset the breaker I got a large oooomph sound from the pole. And the 1 leg had totally melted.. I was on generator power at the time.  The park is unsure of why this is happening.  I suspect a large voltage drop in the line... After they replaced the plug. We had no power at the pole on the 20 30 0r 50 amp plugs and neither did the spot next to me. They went to the main breaker box and discovered every 2 campsites are on the same circuit.,at the mAin box the breaker has not tripped and still has power but there is none at the 2 poles. My guess is the wire has melted somewhere between the box and the 2 sites? is that possible?

Also wouldnt it be best to have each site on their own circuit? I also read that every other campsite should have leg1 and leg2 reversed . Seems many rv have more on line 1 than 2 . And that difference adds up?  Any way you guys are smarter than me. Ideas.

I am overdue for routine service. My plans to be in Sioux Falls S.D. this year to visit Todd Flickema and Larry of Interstate Diesel ,the mechanic and birth mother of this Newell will have to wait  until spring.  There is just too much to see and do as a fulltimer Smile

Does anyone have experience with Choo Choo Express in Rossville Georgia? They come up on Google as a good shop for 2 cycle Detroit Diesels.

Newell has just published their new Look Book that gives examples of paint, layouts, tables, rugs, kitchens, fireplaces, and other items that have been installed in Newells over the past couple of years. Included are coaches through #1633 which is recently off the assembly line.

1988 Newell #179 User Manual

I have written a New Hints/Tips/Troubleshooting manual for the prospective  new owner of my 1988 Newell #149,
on  9/21/2017.

May contain errors and I welcome updates and corrections.  This is written from the view of
a newell user that has learned stuff (right or wrong) the hard way.

Hopefully this will be helpful to others.

Gang,

I was crossing Arkansas the other day and in fairly heavy traffic a "road gator" suddenly appeared in front of the coach.  There was not much I could do because of the traffic and ended up running over it.  I did not think I took any damage, but now I am missing my rear mudflap.

The mud flap is 10 x 24 inches.  Has anyone replaced their mudflaps?  Mine are looking a little long in the tooth and I would like to replace all of them.  I have four...behind steer tires and behind tags.

A few have popped up online, but I would rather go a proven source.

Cheers,
bill
