hi all,

if one of you the next time you are at the newell factory, could please take a bunch of pictures of the metal stand that is one wheels that they use to jack up and move the slide out to replace the slide seal.

it would be cheaper for me to make one to replace mine when it goes out than to drive to newell.

and rough dimensions.  width, length and height before jacking it up

thanks

tom

I'm still doing research on Newell and Foretravel DPs. I'm seeing that most of the Newell's I'be been looking at have the 500 Hp Detroit engine. I'm familiar with the Cummins that Foretravel DPs use, but know little about the Detroit. Can anyone share your experience with this drivetrain? How do they compare? Which one is more costly to mantain, etc?

Our voltage gauges are showing us that we have 120 volts on both our lines but the voltage lights at this particular rv park are not lit up showing we have 240 volts. Has anyone ever had this happen and what was the cause? We checked connections to the lights and they were tight and they were working at the last rv park. The two 120 lights are lit up but the 240 lights are not. They flicker a little bit but that's it.

After the recent post about rear gear failure I thought it might be time to change that oil in my 93 coach. I had inintended to refill it with Mobil 1 75W90, then when I checked the Arvinmeritor site I found that oil was not on the approved list of oils though a companion oil Mobil Delvac Syngear was on the list. I donknow what makes the latter different. Other commonly available approved oils were Syn-Gear by Castrol and Valvoline HD Synthetic Gear EP.

IT seems there is a bit of a surprise and some learning every time I go to do something.

As I posted earlier, I'm a new guy and Foretravel owner. I would like my next coach to be a 2004-2006 45 ft one or two slide with a DD 60 series engine, a NS bed and something other than white laminate interior. Most of the Newell coaches I have seen have an EW bed that looks almost round, three slides and a white interior that is a bit sterile for my taste. Am I looking for something that doesn't exist?

I recently acquired a 1984 Newell Coach!

I will be making many repairs and some restoration work. I'm glad this forum exists and have learned much all ready from reading your posts.

Im looking forward to being able to cross the nation in vintage style!

I am new to the forum. I have owned several gas RVs and am looking to upgrade to a DP. I have pretty much eliminated prevost in my investigation and settled on Newell or Foretravell. I'm limited on funds, so I'll be looking at older Rvs. I'be found that I can buy an older Newel for the same price range of a later model Foretravel. I'm looking for guidance to help in my decision making. Why would want to buy Newell over a later Foretravel? There is much I don't knowabout Newell, especially the chassis. All input would be appreciated.
