I have antifreeze leaking in front left side in front of driver. What's up there. the heater for winter? If I take the dash off can I do a temp. fix by just closing off the line after removing it from the core box? I've not opened it up yet. I just assumed I could get to it from the inside.

A number of you have asked about our plans regarding the incoming storm. As of right now, we are planning on riding it out. If the forecast is true or close to accurate we shouldn't get more than rain and 40mph wind.

This decision may or may not be a good one in hindsight. Only time will tell.

The coach is in the drive, ready to power the house if needed. Diesel tank is full. The fridge and pantry are well stocked. We have a well so water shouldn't be a problem.

Forrest and Cindy are marooned here with us, so it's good to have experienced hurricane folks to hold our hands.

Thanks to all of you who have expressed concern, I will post as this situation progresses.

Seems that certain Newells show up for sale by different sellers. Private, then one retailer after another. Flippers.

I am replacing the Firestone W01-358-8087 air bags for the Dana Kirkstall IFS 84 suspension. As many of you know these are special order and the delivery time is six to eight weeks, plus the price is double what it should be.

I have asked the vendor how many would need to be ordered to get a price break.

My question to the forum is how many of you would want two? And are you willing to pay up front?

Gang,

Has anyone gone though and figured out how the ammeters above the dash work?  One of mine works (kinda) and one is dead.

I am assuming that there is a sensor (either a shunt or a Hall effect sensor) near the transfer switch.  I am not sure where to even start.

Has anyone replaced their meters with digital?  or even found a replacement source for the analog meter if that turns out to be whats wrong.

Thanks,
bill

Gang,

I have a Windgard SK-3005 antenna and regular Directv receivers.  Last year,  I noticed that I was not receiving some stations.   I did some research and found out that Directv had moved some programming to the 109 satellite (which is not tracked by the SK-3005).  Winegard said that I needed the new SWM-3 antenna ($$$$).  Further research indicated that there is a device called a Swm Switch that will convert the signals in a way that allows you to get the other stations.  I will let you know if it works.

In the meantime, I wanna upgrade my Directv receivers to Genie type with the DVR functions.  I am getting the total run-around.  Newell says to talk to Directv.  Directv says to talk to Winegard since it is in an RV.  (They did offer to send one of their "technicians" to my RV to install but earliest date was two weeks from now).

So...Have any of you guys upgraded your directv receivers?  How did you do it?  I could not find the base unit on amazon.

Cheers,
bill

Is it hard to find campgrounds that will accept a 45 ft. Motorhome? What length RVs are acceptable in most campgrounds?  I'm looking at Newels, but I'm not sure how often I'll run into a problem finding a campground that accepts the length. Do most national and state parks accept the long RVs?

darlene and i did a trip to salt lake city and back this past week.  got back last nite.  about 1400 miles.  averaged 7.1 mpg.   lots of summits and corresponding ups and downs.  so that seems about right.

coach purred like a kitten.  only issue i had is the starting batteries seemed weak.  no big deal as i used the coach batteries to augment them.

we got home last nite and unloaded.  parked out on the rv pad next to the shop so i could hose it down this morning and clean the engine compartment and check the batteries.

the batteries load tested fine....but lots of corrosion on the terminals.  the worst one was the positive on the second battery.  in takng off the cables, the 3/0 cable pulled out of the crimped terminal.  so that was my problem.  so i dropped the two short jumers that go between the batteries off at wickenburg napa and they are making me two new ones i will pick up friday morning.

i should be good then.

later

tom

Can anyone give me a direction in advance for replacement of the heat ventilation fan motor located under the sofa in my 95? Making a lot of strange noises at this time. Good old Canada. Temps are already heading below 32F.  The Newell is pointing towards the south but will not be leaving for the Parker Az for another week or 2?

Seems to be a lot of benefits, and little downside. Current Newell tires are load range L.

The Michelin X One comes in load range L or even M.
