Not a Newell owner yet, but hope to be.  Have moved from an Airstream trailer to an Airstream Class B+ to a Four Winds Siesta 24SR.  We’ve just started our search for a Newell.  As of now, we’re looking at a 1990 to 1996 coach, because we don’t want or need a slide.  I’m sure our search will narrow as we follow this blog.  I’ve already learned a great deal about what goes on.  Quite concerned about the necessity to keep the rig plugged in at all times for the various reasons.  We don’t have a great deal of money and if it’s going to cost thousands just to keep it up in storage, we’ll probably find another rig.

To further complicate matters, I'm not a blogger, so I've got no idea what I'm doing or where this is going..

I have stopped all the air leaks but, my air pressure stays around 82 pounds. This seems low to me. Do I need a new engine air compressor or is this normal for this model. I am used to 110 to 120 psi. Thanks Pete

All,
I have a CCC circuit board/power supply that I am not able to find a replacement for. It seems that normally there is a 12v dc circuit connected to the control center, but mine only has 120v ac and it has a 12v dc power supply board under the CCC board.
I have searched the internet without any luck finding information on it.
I called Dometic and they had know idea how to find a part number for it or what it was and could not provide any help.
I called Newell and they do no carry the part.
I am confused as to why there is a 120 to 12 power supply instead of just running 12v from the house battery like a normal installation. I would replace the board if I could find one, but I don't have a big problem with removing it and adding a stand alone PS or running house battery to it. I would just like to understand what the reasoning was for the PS before making changes.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
David

We call it Key's Disease!  The price we pay for nosing up to the beautiful ( salt ) waters of Key West.

As you can see in the attached images, the rust always wins!

You are looking at the spring from my curb side bedroom window awning.

I had to smile when I read the instructions on Zipdee's site on how to replace the spring.  Basically after drilling out the rivets holding the assembly inside the tube, you are to grab onto the shaft with pliers and pull the spring out.  Sounds simple enough.

But who is going to replace a working spring?  I suppose Steve Bare might if was on his maintenance list at some mileage or years, but not the rest of us.   So, once you pull out the shaft guess what? - the broken portion of the spring is still way down there in the tube somewhere.  The instructions don't mention what to do about that :-)

I tried reaching it with my awning rod and pulling, but that applied an off center force and yielded no results.  I finally had to remove the tube from the awning fabric ( had to drill out all the pop rivets ) and work on it on the ground.   I stood it on end and gently, and then more aggressively, pounded on the tube in the area of the spring while bouncing the end of the tube on the concrete and finally I delivered the other portion of the spring assembly!

In my case I had a 2.5" tube that required the square sectioned spring.   It is Zipdee part number 221200.  Surprisingly it did not pop up on my normal internet search and on a whim, on the way to the grocery store, I stopped in at East Tennessee Luxury Coach to see Jeff Rowe and inquire there.   While he did have a spring, it was not the right one.   He offered to order it directly from Zipdee and I took him up on that.   That was last Friday and yesterday, Tuesday, it was here.   Not bad!

Another project off the list!

Russ

We just joined the Newell Gurus last evening and are posting for the first time on this site.  Purchased our 2003 Newell Quad Slide, coach # 676 from Legacy Coach in Rockwall Texas in September 2014.  To date we have used the coach for four or five 3-5 day trips and are definitely planning to travel and see the great USA in 2017.  We are big NASCAR fans and look forward to attending several races.  Prior to purchasing our Newell, we owned several Foretravel Coaches over the past 15 years.  We live in Port Orchard Washington very close to Seattle.

We are looking forward to using this site and the various forums to learn more about our Newell as well as meeting and corresponding with other Newell owners.

Thanks for the opportunity.

Hello had the pleasure of parking next to a Newell
Wow
Eye opening as to see a well built coach and it was 21 years young
And having features than new coaches do not have
I will now always be looking at them
Thank you for letting me join your group
