Frustrated with the emission testing rules here in Maricopa County AZ. We are almost ready to take our 1986 8V92 TA on an extended trip after a couple of years of restoration. I went to get an emission test (required to title and register in this county) and I hit a brick wall. According to the regulators my 1986 all mechanical engine (no DDEC) has to be brought up 1988 emission standards in order to register it. One exception is if the engine manufacturer will certify that the 1986 engine met 1988 standards. I don't think that is the case since I believe that 1988 was the first year for DDEC electronic control over fuel injection. i doubt the 1988 standard can be met without extensive engine modifications.
Anyone have any experience with this issue?

I purchased air force one brake system, does anyo e have experience with installation. The instructions are not specific to Newell.
Thank you
I have a number of parts from the Howard Power Steering system that were removed from Jack Houpe’s coach. As far as I know it was inop when removed, and I have no idea what the issue may have been. I post this because some Newell’s were equipped with this, and one of you may be looking for something specific.
Thanks again to Tom McCloud for being a true gentleman and helping to support keeping our wonderful Newell coaches on the road. Tom shared the drawings and pictures of the slide cart he had built so I could replicate it and build one of my own to have on the West Coast. I still currently work full time and I don't have the option of taking it to Newell when it needs to have something repaired. Fortunately I can do most of the work myself including fabrication as needed. The slide cart is almost identical with just a couple of minor differences. I will be putting it to use in a couple of weeks to replace the drivers side salon seal and then after that replacing the Delrin blocks under the drivers side rear bedroom slide... Thanks again Tom!
For a number of years Darlene and I have hosted a BBQ for our friends to stay connected. During covid we stopped. We are doing it again this year. We use evite to send invitations and I tried to get the local gurus invited that way. However, some have not gotten the invite for some reason.
That said, anyone of our gang here is invited. It is Saturday April 15th, 2023 and is from 5 to 10 pm, come and go. it is for you and an adult guest. Darlene makes smoked pulled pork and fixings to go with it. it is an rsvp event so we can plan food.
there is no cost and we ask for anyone coming to bring any gently used clothing or toys that we take to our local food bank thrift store where they use the money from their store to help with expenses for the food bank.
our great friend and mechanic Leo from all aboard america will be there as will a few gurus that have already responded.
If anyone is interested in coming, please email me at [email protected] and i will give you the details.
sorry, but there will not be room for coaches to come.
We live in Wittmann, AZ which is between surprise and wickenburg.

Number 548 I think
I ordered a new panhard bar and enough bushings to do the tag axle and the drive axle. My panhard bar had been replaced recently so no need for this brand new one. My drive axle bushings were good so I have eight bushings that need a home the tag axle requires four bushings and the drive axle requires eight. My loss your gain. And I would be willing to deliver these to Newell if you have plans on having your coach work done there or I can ship them to you.
$325 for three piece panhard bar.
$200 for all eight bushings.
Right after purchasing the coach a few years back, I had been storing the bus on a friend's property. Ground got a little soft when we went to pull out we got dug in, ended up having to be winched out by a heavy wrecker (thank you Good Sam roadside platinum) . I know there is a button for deflating the tag airbags for better traction, but is there a way to lock out the differential so that one side isn't just sitting there spinning? If so, how do I do that with the toggle gear selector?
Wondering if these would work for our holding tanks too.
We made it home safely and had a wonderful time in FL for the last 3 months except when I got sick, it was a working vacation and I made good progress in getting our coach up to standards or better. The biggest gain was the replacement of the tag axle bushings, my steering going down the road is almost perfect now and before I would get anxiety thinking of driving it. The other major problem is my steering box is not what came with our coach it has been replaced with a unit that is not adjustable and the pitman arm is half the size of a normal pitman arm causing me to loose a lot of turning radius. I am shopping for a TRW TAS85 box and pitman arm but do not have the part number for the pitman arm or even a length of a normal one. The boxes are sold separate from the pitman arm any help would be much appreciated. If anyone has either for sale please let me know. Soon as I replace the steering box, pitman arm, and the 2 u joints on the column I am certain it will be perfect.
