I have a question to who ever know ,I just perchassed a newell that has a very light fire on the stove ,everything under window is intact and unit runs and drive as if nothing happened .some the ceillings have been removed to expose the insulation that is intact .I was told since this unit was written off by insurance and tag as non repairable .Newell will not want to help me with anything i need . the reason insurance wrote it off is over a 6 year fight with the owner ,in the end they paid him but tagged it non repairable ,it is obviously not a wright off . where i am ,i will be allowed to use ministery of transport to have engenner inspect the frame ,and drive system and pretty much everythng and give me a new tag as a artisanal build . it will no longe have a value of a newell ,but this is a unit i re build for my self and will be my last one .i am a RV body shop ,i have the knowledge and facility to bring this unit like it was when first built but for this ,i will need to be able to buy parts from Newell as i wish to go back the way they done it . Will they refuse to sell me anything ? I only heard positive feed back from this manufacture ,but been told in my case they will not want anything to do with project of mine .  fibromobile.com   is my shop in Ontario Canada   thank you for your help

We are staying at a nice RV Park - Piney Point RV Park in Nacogdoches TX.  The park is nice and quiet and we have a great view of the very pretty lake.  The managers are nice, hard-working people who have bent over backwards to help us how ever they can.  The lot rent is very reasonable at $350/mo including 50-amp electric and water/sewer (I think they have cable but have not hooked it up).  The roads are a little rough getting in to the campground so definitely go slow!  The pads are all gravel/dirt but there is enough gravel that I don’t think the coach will get dirt splashed on it when it rains - ask me tomorrow (it’s raining now)… overall probably a 4/5 - the odd thing is that the park owners also own a concrete plant…

Wow. I just received a package from Newell with a Coleman Mach thermostat and a dual snap disc thermostat for the Aquahot. Maybe weighs 1lb together.

They gave me the prices for the items. I was OK with that. Asked if I wanted/needed next day shipping...I didn't. Told me it would be 19.99 for shipping. OK.

Just looked at the invoice attached to the box and noticed a $48.85 Service and Handling charge!

What?? No mention of this during my conversations with Newell. I WILL be calling about this tomorrow.

Is this normal for small stuff? Is it always around $50. Seems pretty steep for pulling parts off a shelf and putting them in a box.

A few months ago I bought some piece of land to build a small home and also store our RV. Everything is going OK but I then installed the electric pole and I have had the RV connected 24/7 but pretty much empty (we are not living in there or anything like that), this month the electric bill came and it says that it used 412Kwh for the past month, every now and then we go in, turn on the ACs (less than an hour but that happened 3/4 times this month)

Does that sound like the consumption should be that high?
Does anybody else pay attention to this that can share your average consumption while almost in storage?

I installed a 50Amp receptacle for it and I don't see anything going up on the ammeter inside the coach so I don't understand where is all this consumption going.

Thanks!

I have 3 questions that I was hoping I could get answers for.
Thanks for any help that you can provide.

1 What was the model year that Newell started using Cummins engines?

2 What model year did they go to the 600 Cummins?

3 What year model coach did they start using the Allison transmission

On our most recent trip of about 2 hours I noticed the salon slide was squeaking quite a bit.  When we went to pull the slide out I noticed that the seal was sticking out a little (maybe an 1/8”) - I should have taken a picture.  When the slide is in it is normally pretty much flush with the side walls but this time the slide was pooched out a little.  Will the slideout movement cause the seal to rupture?

I didn't see this coming... After reviewing the operating manual for my new to me 2009 (#1261), I figured out that I need a 50 amp service (at all times). There are several RV storage areas, but covered and 50A is nearly impossible. If I had a spare $125K I would grab a site at Mount Olive Shores and park it there... Driving down Friday to take it home.
I wrote the following to the Motorcoach Store after talking to Newell:
******
Do you have Outback inverter/charger experts down there? I talked to Newell today after reviewing the documentation about the need for 50 amp service. Although I have 50 amp service at my house, my HOA is not amenable to allowing more than 2 days even though I have a 100+ foot driveway.

Newell said a splitter is the the answer (after confirming I had outback, not ProSine), so if there isn't one in the coach, I have at least a 30 amp service at my local covered storage, and might be able to get a second one. Newell said with one, we need the power to go to the "right leg" for charging, and to set the Outback AC in to CORD.
******

So am I on the right track? I have:
a 50A female to 30A Male service,
a spare 30A to 30A male marine to 30A RV (just in case),
and a 50A female to two 30A male RV in case I can get two 30A outlets. I figure I can get something going out of this.

My Outback seems to be easy to force over to 'CORD' and code an amperage limit.

I will talk to the guys about turning off circuits when I go down to get the coach on Friday.

I've also ordered a 15A AMP-L-Start on the way in case the echo charger for chassis batteries isn't playing well. Since the F150 Toad has to keep its ignition 'on' when on the road, I ordered the Toad Charge for it

Does anyone know what the gap should be between the ABS sensor and the toothed ring?

Thanks for the help!

Gurus, watch your tires closely in hot weather.  Had a semi have two steer tires blowout yesterday.  He is Ok but the truck will need some repairs.  The first tire didn't go flat immediately, he had time to get to the side of the road and limp it to a good stopping point.  Several hours later after a new tire he started out again and had a total blow out on the other side.  When the tire blew it flipped the hood open (broke both latches) so not only was he fighting to steer the truck but he was doing it blind.  He was driving about 65 miles per hour.

We run 20,000 lb front axles with actual load of 18,500 lbs.  Our trucks are loaded 100% of the time like your Newells.  We haul scale testing equipment (lots of cast iron) from scale to scale so the only times the trucks are unloaded are when testing a scale.

We run an odd size of tire 425/65 r22.5.  As a state agency we've usually had to go with the cheaper no name tires.  After yesterdays events I now have permission to spend a little more for name brand tires.

So watch your tire air pressures, your tire temps and your speed.

Unfortunately our trucks don't have tire air pressure monitors so I don't know how hot the tires were getting but the ambient air temps were over 100 yesterday.

Hate to think how much damage such an event would have done to a Newell.
