Hello all from sunny UK! I bought a 2004 newell coach about a year ago, some nice history belonging to Jimmie Johnson NASCAR driver in the states then bought by Jenson button (F1 DRIVER) and shipped over to Europe for the remainder of its life.
It’s a lovely coach and just about getting my head around all the bits on it!
Looking forward to learning more!
This site and community of people here are amazing. I can't stop reading what seems to be endless information. Current searching for a 1999-2002 bath and half Newell. I'm looking forward to owning, working on and learn as much as possible about Newell coach ownership.
So, I have been doing a lot of repair and refurbishment to get my New (to me) Newell out on some extended trips. One of the things that is driving me crazy is the Flexsteel(?) Villa(?) Driver's seat right arm.
When folded down, it simply flops to the seat cushion. If I push on it hard enough when it's vertical I can get it to stay sort of horizontal, but it's still pointed a bit down. NOT conducive to comfortable driving.
I have figured out how to remove the arm by rotating it backwards until the pin lines up and then pulling it out. There seems to be no real mechanism nor adjustments inside. Just a keyhole shaped entryway with two "walls" inside.
Anyone know how it works and what to do to adjust or repair it? Am I missing pieces?
Thanks!
Hi Guys,
I just sold my 2020 Leisure Travel Van Unity TB and bought a 2008 Newell with 108k from Motorhomes of Texas. We are having the leather replaced with ultra leather. I believe the previous owner Mike was pretty prominent on these fine pages. I would now have his unit which I consider a good thing because he knew what he was talking about. Hey, any advise, comments, jokes or whatever are welcome. This is our first "A" class having moved only have our B+ class for 10 months, so I hope the size thing works out. Any suggestions for road tripping in an A class would be appreciated. I know it will be different. Any suggestions for spare parts, or specific know how needed for the the Newell are welcome. About us, we learned that as we left California the people became nice, the roads great, and journey meaningful. Life became an adventure. I now believe that anyone who sits at home is rotting. Life is about challenges and challenging yourself to learn new things daily. That is what I want to put out there.. Please sound off!
Hey All,
Since it was a bit cooler today, I figured i would begin replacing the cooked AH wiring for the 120V heating element.
I had printed a diagram to give myself a fighting chance to pull the correct wires to the correct places.
The diagram is for AH's with only the 120v heating element.
I have three holes punched out in the electrical (small removable pane on front) The top one goes to the Contactors and is easy to trace. Then I have the punchout on the right, wires going to the right. And TWO punchouts on the left an upper and a lower. Most of these appear shorted to the case, so checking continuity really didn't give me a good idea of what goes where.
Across the area where I have the limit thermostats there are two romex like shielded cables. One appears to go down to the 240V heating element...the other ?????
I have attached two pictures (terribly taken!)
Maybe someone has a diagram or knows how to wire it all up?
I'd really like to have at least the 240v working for winter storage at my house.
THANK YOU!
Hey guys so I have always run Lucas oil engine oil additives and fuel treatment in my daily drivers, question is is the 6v92 a temperamental motor, which oil is best to use and are the additives okay to run?
Does anyone have spare parts for the Mach 5 , I think the low pressure switch is bad and H H don't service my era. What its doing it pumps up and holds but when demand comes it won't respond . I unplug and reset open all valves it runs as I turn off everything it holds pressure till I open faucet.
Gurus,
My AH will fire up on diesel and run for a while but will then shut down with the light over the galley turned off.
I called Rudy @"Trainer" and he said it sounded like a photo detector to him.
The troubleshooting is relatively straight forward.
1) With the burner firing, measure the voltage on the black wire on the “C” connector. Compare that to the green wire on the ‘C’ connector. The green wire is the voltage coming from the photo eye. It should be fairly close to the voltage on the black wire and remain steady. My black wire was at 12.4 volts and the green wire started at 10VDC but then started dropping as the burner got warmer. Looks like a bad photo-eye.
2) The other way to test the photo eye is to remove burner and disconnect the photo eye. Measure the resistance on the photo eye with the photo eye exposed to a bright light and to total darkness.
For bright light you are looking for less than 200 Ohms
With the light blocked you are looking for more than 100K Ohms.
My photo eye measured 80 Ohms in light (good) and 45K Ohms in darkness (not good).
So I will be contacting Rudy to get him to send me a photo eye.
Will post more when I get it installed and it works.
Cheers,
Bill
I was heading north on I-15 Friday afternoon 8/13/21, somewhere south of Butte. I think I spotted a cream and teal Newell followed a few miles later by a tan and dark, both south bound both with toed's. Both I think were the smiley face front ends.
In all these 1100 miles since I took off from Phoenix, I think these are the only Newell coaches I've seen.
Cheers.
Been working for a week on diesel last night wouldn't fire of diesel. Will heat off electricity. Temp gage in the galley on electricity has leveled out at 206.
So what do I do to start the trouble shooting on the Webasto side of the hot box?
Some background, at the dealer when taking delivery. Two repairs one was a fuse 30a and the other I was told was a thermostat. It has been working for the last week and a half since the thermostat replacement off the diesel side.
206 seams high.
