While change my salon slide seal found the rear slide lock leaking from the plunger/pin area. Decided to try replacing the seals (see image below for part numbers) mainly to see If it is possible.
Removed the switch housing on top of the lock and pushed the slide pin out. The internal seal was completely deteriorated and retained by a snap ring. From what I could tell that seal was an squared "U" shaped seal, not an O-ring, The "U" was facing the pressure side of the chamber. Using my Dial Calipers I came up with dimensions for the internal seal and the others as well. The closest McMaster-Carr had to the square "U" was a X profile and Double X-Profile seal. I chose the double x profile as it is designed for a dynamic installation. I was able to fit the seal into the channel without having to remove the internal snap ring after cleaning it out thoroughly.
The next item to note, on the slide pin is two Teflon backing rings on each side of the O-ring. Those are solid and not split like most backing ringsI made a tool to take it apart but did not bother as they looked great to reuse as is.
Checked the operation of the switch with an OHM meter all good there.
Reassembled the lock assembly and installed into the coach for leak and operational checks. Happy to report no leaks and works great!!
I was heading out to the grocery store from our site in Cherry Creek State Park in Denver around dusk and out of the corner of my eye, I saw the unmistakable shape of a Hastings Hump in the front of the Abilene Loop!
It was too dark on my way back to catch a picture, but plan to say hi tomorrow morning if they're still there.
Hi all. I just figured out that my air bond are not working. From what I can tell the air horn and city horn operate independently of each other. When I open the air horn, I can hear something at the horn location on the roof, anyone have experience in trouble shooting and repair of there air horms? Thanks

Hello Everyone, my outlet that my aqua hot basement heater plugs into doesn’t have power. I’ve looked over all the AC breakers in basement and closet and all are working. Does anyone know if there’s another breaker or reason my outlet is inop? I’m needing to get this fixed ASAP since we have winter around the corner. I currently have extension cord run from another outlet so the heater works but would obviously like the proper outlet to work as well. Any help would be appreciated!
I am replacing the microwave in my 1985 Newell. I read you can not use a home microwave in an RV due to venting but I see no reason this makes any sense.
Anyone have any insight or used a home built-in microwave in their bus? Just looking to expand my options.
My current top contender is the 1.1 cu ft from RecPro. I am just not as familiar with RecPro as say Sharp. Opinions on the RecPro microwave also appreciated.

Hello All,
My wife and I just purchased Dave and Tish's coach (1981 - 36ft). We are super excited to start our journeys and participate in this wonderful forum. I've been doing as much studying as I can the last few days. What an amazing wealth of knowledge and comradery among members!
We live in Austin, out by Lake Travis, and hope to meet any fellow local members or folks passing through.
Dave and Tish, you have full visitation rights anytime! Thank you for spending so much time with me and answering all my questions. You've done an amazing job on the coach and it shows.
I will certainly posts my experiences and questions, because I hope to have many of both.
Thank you to everyone for contributing to this awesome site. Looking forward to it all.
Herb
I felt like this needed a new thread even though it is tied into my salon slide seal change.
After getting everything back together....operated the slide through it's complete range to check for flush and proper extension of (29 1/8"). The salon slide floor did not raise up flush. Prior to changing the seal, the slide system worked flawlessly to include the floor coming up flush. Checked fluid level and that is good to go.
Have a couple of question related to this event with some added information. After gaining access found the aft slide lock leaking....disconnected and capped the lines with the lock in the retracted position. I figured I would run with the rear lock bypassed as the front lock is working properly.
Back to the floor issue....what sequencing switch tells the system that it is time to raise the floor? Is there a set of switches on the rear lock that relay the position of the lock? I can't tell, as there is some spray foam above the hydraulic lock assembly that obscures the lock body. I am asking this to make sure I didn't mess up something removing the slide.
Thanks in advance!
