I have a Coach 428, a 1996 model with six house batteries.  I need to replace me 6 house batteries and looking for the best deal.  I'm think 8d AGM deep cycle, but maybe use the old acid batteries if the price is significant.

Didn't really know where to post this but I am looking at purchasing a 2001 double slide in St Louis next week. I have a deposit on the coach and a contract. I will not be there. I have owned a 96 before but this is my first one with slides. I absolutely will be willing to compensate and of course also pay for travel. I figured I would come to the Guru's first! 

If it passes inspection I would also be looking for transportation to Reno.

I wanted to throw a shout-out to Richard....but first a story.   

I have been hearing my air compressor turn on more than I thought it should so I got out my trusty Inficon leak detector. I check around the dash, the toilet, the doors and the rest of the inside air systems.  No dice.

Next I looked outside at the slide seals, the water bays and compressor bay.  Still nothing.   

I made my way to the engine bay and found a slight leak on the shop air input connector.  A good start, but would not account for the amount of air I was losing.

Finally I start looking at the slide seal controllers.  The first one I got to was LEAKING AIR!  Lots of air!   I could tell some air was coming from the bottom of the water separator.

   

No problem...I had a spare separator and was able to take the bottom out of the new one and swap with the old one.  Leak fixed!

In the words of Coach Corso...."Not so fast!".

Leak was still there.  

I got the leak detector out and found a second leak...much worse than the first one on the back of the vacuum filter - whatever that is.  A push-in fitting was leaking.   No problem!  I have super good DOT fittings and I will just swap it out.   I used a wrench to try and back off the fitting.   Hmmm.   my wrenches don't seem to be the right size.

I forgot to tell you the story of my Knipex pliers.  I was at Richard's house and was helping work on something and he pulled a pair of Knipex pliers out of his pocket. Wow....best pliers I have ever seen.   knipex pliers.  If you know me, you know I am a sucker for nice tools so I ordered a set.  When they got here, I put them on the coach but did not use them because they were so .... "pretty".   

I thought to myself...this is a job for my new pliers.   I got them adjusted and leaned into the air fitting and SNAP!  Broke it right off!!!!

Here is the broken air connector.      

I called Richard he immediately suggested a screw extractor.   I found one at HD but here is a link to a similar Tool.  It worked!!!      

I put it all back together and yep...still had a leak.  Now the regulator is leaking...but that is another post.

Oh and a bonus pic....the pliers and the broken air fitting.    

Thanks to Richard for the great suggestion to fix the problem that he created in the first place!  

Also, get yourself some Knipex pliers but don't ever use them!

    Northbound I-75 in Florida. Anybody recognize this Newell?

I adapted the Lint Lizard to clean under my refrigerator.  This is maintenance that is very much needed, but often forgotten.  Attaches to vacuum.

        In the front bay, passenger side of my coach, is where the switch to activate the 120v air compressor resides. There is a pressure switch that feeds 120v to a relay that feeds the air compressor. There is a loose white wire that was on the other side of this relay which is now not connected. It may look like it's connected in the photo, but it's loose. The set screws are rusted so I can't tell where it was connected. I bought a new base to re-wire this. Where does the loose wire connect. Please excuse me if I have component terms wrong.

I have a large paint chip on the front of the coach (generator panel cover) that I would like to keep from falling off. It is starting to curl up a little at the edges. I know nothing about paint and am asking for any advice on what I can use to glue or otherwise adhere this chip in place. Any miracle adhesive or technique to share?

When I made the decision to sell mine, I took it to Motorhomes of Texas. 
We had discussed pricing in advance and confirmed the condition of my coach on my arrival. 
I left it there and was on my way in 30 minutes. They told me it would be approximately three weeks before they 
had it detailed and photographed for advertising. 
Six days later they called with an offer. I countered and we made a deal. 
I was very happy with the whole process and would highly recommend them.

I’m sure that I’ll miss having it but wouldn’t be using it for the next 18 months. 
As you all know, a Newell or any modern R.V. doesn’t do well sitting unused.
I’m hopeful the new owners enjoy it as much as I did.
