Hi,
Looking for a newel coach thats handicap accessible 2000-2003. (That’s probably our budget range) I know thats a hard order to fill but my wife’s in a wheelchair and plays Para Badminton for Team USA. Amys been a good sport for the last six year now traveling east to west coast in my 1991 Newell coach 272 that we have made work. Coach 272 will be for sale in March or April when when return to Nashville from California where she has been training. We may have to buy a Newmar or Winnebago but we really love the Newell quality so if anyone knows of such a coach or in the future were to discover one for sale in your travels you can messenger me or email [email protected]. My bride is a planner. I am the lucky recipient. This year she started even earlier on the reservations. Most of the trip was reserved while we were still on the 2019 tour.
She has a few tricks that really help her.
One, always call to make the reservation. Look online to see what they have, but call. Communicate the needs for sites, satellite, and easy in and out.
Two, make the reservations for the holiday weekends first. Then fill in the inbetweens.
Three, if the last 50 fifty miles are secondary roads, keep the daily mileage under 200. Or the driver gets crabby.
Four, and this was a new learning this year. If you can plan that far in advance, make your reservations for the coming year while the campground is still staffed. In the past, for many of the campgrounds closed in the winter, she would talk to an answering service. Sometimes with mixed results.
Five, she sends our family, and neighbors watching the house, this list with phone numbers in case they can't reach us on the cell.
I post this not to say look at us, but the phone numbers for the campgrounds are there, and they have been vetted as Newell suitable.
Finally, meet us somewhere on this journey. We will have a mini ralley. We will hike, bike, and eat really well.

[attachment=7275]Hello gurus! I could use some help with the fire extinguisher shutdown circuit for the generator.
Yesterday I discovered that the circuit on my coach is apparently wired in series with the "pull in" coil and not the "hold in" coil.
If I disconnect the FE circuit to simulate an empty canister while the genny is running, it keeps running. If I shut the genny down and try to restart it with the FE circuit unplugged, the pull in coil does nothing and obviously the genny will not start. If I plug the FE circuit back in, all is well again. The pull in coil does its thing, and the genny purrs right along.
My hang up is with the wiring. One side of the FE circuit comes out of the 4 prong plug and connects with the black ground wire to the pull in/hold in solenoid. The other side of the circuit connects to a white wire that disappears into the wiring harness. The red and white leads coming from the pull in hold in solenoid are also connected to separate white wires which also disappear into the harness. Without being able I track these white wires I am unsure how to rewire the system.
Any help on how to proceed would be much appreciated.

Hey everyone been off line for awhile, but wanted to announce 2 New RV resorts that I am opening this year. The first one is ‘The Regatta on Grand”. It is 30 minutes south of the Newell factory, on Grand Lake in Grove. Another obvious newbie question. There is a 50 amp outlet in the electric bay. When not on shore power does or is the shore power cord supposed to be plugged into this 50 amp outlet? If not what is this outlet for?

i have been working on getting my 99 ready to sell. it had a leaky slide seal which thankfully ended up being the shutoff ball valve on the regulator under the bed.
i replaced the valve, and put a new 0-30psi gauge on and added the must have add on of the 12v vacuum pump. i found an old aluminum bracket in my old parts pile and used it to mount the vacuum pump on. the pump is on the bottom side of the roundish bracket attached to the slide rectangular tubing. i used a packard plug to make it removable if needed.
when the bedroom slide seal would inflate it made alot of noise. ends up the regulator was set at 28psi....way to high. i cut it down to about 14psi. i will check it in the morning and see if i should bump it up a little or not.
i have had 3 of these valves leak now, two on this one and one on my 02.
just a note to not always assume it is the slide seal itself, but perhaps a leak might be in the regulator set up.

Wondering if you all have an idea as to the best value in roadside assistance programs? I realize it is all dependent on personal risk tolerance but there has to be a solution that would cover all the biggies without having a pocket full of membership cards.

I've been a member of this site for a long time. I've owned two Newells, a 77 and a 93. I poured my heart into both of them trying to make them better. I think I succeeded. I learned an immense amount along the way. According to Chesley at Newell I obviously spent too much time under the coach and according to my sweetheart I didn't spend enough time in the coach. I beg to differ.
Following my wife's death from cancer 4 years ago, traveling in the Newell lost its luster and I eventually sold it. At one point I had 2 motorhomes, 2 cars and a 5 bedroom house, every widowers dream, right?
A year ago I bought a Sprinter B van conversion by Great West Vans, a 2015 with low miles. The trip home to Michigan from California was amazing. The sights were amazing and I found I wanted to do an amazing amount of work on the van. Newell coaches were my standard for desired quality of design and workmanship, not that I had and experience actually doing either one of those. It has taken more than a year to pretty much redo the interior, not quite done yet, but the van is really nice to travel in and I'm pleased with how it looks. The idea of doing this type of thing in a Newell size coach, just thinking about it makes me tired.
The kind lady in my life has a Mexican heritage so we are thinking of taking "Lucy" (the van) to Mexico for or month or so just for giggles. And some genuine fajitas.
I'll continue to follow this site and continue to contribute when I can remember something relevant and useful. And I will enjoy reading how this village is a community of friends helping friends.
