While in Lawrence KS last week hosting a NIST training i found this convenient spot not to far off I-70. It was walking distance ( about 4 blocks from lots of one off boutiques, bars, and restaurants.
Dropped pin
Near Lawrence Cultural District, Lawrence, KS 66044

The band tour buses new about it. There were three prevost band busses there that I saw. No hookups, but no fees either. Nice and quiet.
I have asked before but wanted a separate thread just for information regarding VIN and/or coach # information for pre-1990 Newells. I have some VIN information but I am missing a lot of it. I am also missing coach number information (the coach number was not part of the VIN until 1990) for most of these pre-1990 Newells.
The information I have is somewhat limited and in some cases conflicting for coach # vs VIN. The earliest confirmed match I have is 1986 VIN ending in 004 (4th coach built in 1986) is #86 based on the Newell numbering system implemented in 1983.
If you have a pre-1990 Newell, PLEASE post here or PM me the VIN.
If you have a 1983-1989 Newell and have a document or numbers you have located on the inside of your coach that confirms a coach number (hint it must be 1 - 212 inclusive) such as markings on the inside of the engine compartment doors, markings on the inside of cabinet panels, or a floorplan that provides a coach number, PLEASE post here or PM me.
I greatly appreciate the assistance.
If you have the short serpentine belt, also identified by the alternator and AC compressor on the left side of the engine, then the Gates part number for the belt tensioner is 38501. Gates has about 20 tensioners, this one has the correct width of pulley.

Question for the collective wisdom of this forum.
Strongly looking at a 2009, which seems to have been proactively maintained (race circuit) but not improved. The coach is 152,000 miles and has had things like:
- Radiator Replaced
- Both main air compressors (only last two years?)
- Batteries
- Tires
- Alternator
- Generator with 3,662 hours on it
- How long would suspension airbags last?
- What's a typical interval on brakes on these things?
- The AC systems have been worked hard - would it be typical for one (or 4) to need replacement?
- I know there are a couple of picture windows that need replacing.
- It's running a C-15 with an Alison transmission
Hello All,
Well it is my turn for a radiator change due to corrosion. Mine is atypical of many of your radiators that you all have replaced. Mine had leak(s) in the bottom 5% of the core. The corroded fins are in the bottom 20% of the core.....see picture. BTW, Richard's idea of a table/bench to work off of and to slide the radiator out is golden!
Once exposing the core, apparently someone in years past had used non distilled water.........
My Question;
Many have expressed the reason for the corroded cores are a result of stray electrical currents. Is there a proper method of grounding that works? Has there been any current source(s) identified that are problematic?
Thanks
Steve

LI was lowering the price and accidentally deleted my post, my apologies for the mix up!
[attachment=6927]Selling my 1989 Newell 40’ Motor Home, Coach #184. $39,500
105K Miles, Detroit 8V92 Allison Auto
12.5 Kohler genset with Yanmar Diesel engine
8 new (5k miles) Uniroyal tires
New bus batteries last year, house batteries are good, not sure of the age
Runs and drives and generates great.
3 basement airs that work great
Electric floor heaters work great, only one of the lp has heaters work.
Main floors updated
New size correct Fridge last year
New microwave last year
Two burner gas and two burner electric cook top, works great
Lots more info available to serious buyers, I’d prefer a call, if you message me your phone number I’ll call you and talk all you want.
I’m the third owner and have owned the bus for two years and would gladly drive this anywhere in the country, on one tank of fuel I might add (303 gallon main tank and 100 gallon auxiliary tank). It is 30 years old and isn’t perfect, the paint looks good, but on the drivers side clear coat is coming off as well as a bit on the front and a bit on the back.
Mechanically it’s a very sound coach and is ready to use.
I can text you all the pictures you’d like.
385 is at Newell for its annual check up
Any Gurus around?????
It's time to write the check for new tires. Currently 2012 date code on our tires. We prefer to go with Michelin, although we have had no problems with the Goodyears on the coach now. 11R24.5 is our size. Any suggestions on where to purchase, or opinions in general on this topic?
Regards,
Guy
I had several de-laminated sections of laminate that needed attention. From another project, I have used this Roo Glue formulated for Melamine & Vinyl. Thought i would try it out on the Newell's laminate. It has the right consistency as it will get into the deep recesses, with the aid of an artist brush, but still not run everywhere.

Not sure what the deal is with this one. It is priced like a 2008 but the photos are of #470, a 1998. It is a single slide, with the front cap that was replaced with the 'smiley' front cap after 1999. Note: #470 is 42' 6" not 45'. The original red carpet has been replaced with wood flooring in the salon (note #470 had the carpet replaced with wood flooring), the round glass display case at the end of the kitchen counter has been removed. Mileage (86,000) would be consistent with #470 which had 74,377 miles in 2015. The inverter should be a 2.5kw rather than a 25kw. The headlights have been changed out from the standard Ford headlights.

Here is a couple of photos of #470 from a couple of years ago compared with the coach in the ad.
