I thought I would make a thread for this subject. As background I got some clear polycarbonate tubing from Amazon. It is the same od & id as the original radiator overflow tank sight tube. The same tube cap fits in the new tubing.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000OM9...UTF8&psc=1
Tom had mentioned that the overflow tank company owner said that the sight tube required some extra work. When I removed the tube I see what was being referred to. The 1/2" od will not fit into the black vinyl hosing as it is too big. Therefore he tapered down the end to fit.
Using an open flame I heated one end of my tube and shaped it in a vise. I put a drill bit into the tube so I didn't collapse & block off the tube. I used a drill bit that matched his final hole. Mine did not come out as pretty, but it did slip into the black vinyl hosing. I clamped it and it has passed a 4 hr leak test. Now I'll have to see if it passes the operational test when we go out and hold up to the vibration.
Some one may have experience forming this material and have a better way of forming the tubing. If so please provide suggestions.
Now you know the rest of the story and can decide if you want to experiment as I have or buy a ready made set up. If some one wants to try their own experiment I can bring most of the necessary tools to the rally. The only thing I don't have is a portable vise.
I attached some photos.....................

richard, i want to see something similar on your newell. i think it is the coolest exhaust pipe ever on a bus.
this is a 45' eagle, but i an sure you could do something similar with yours.
take lots of pictures as you do it so we can have a step by step to do it yourself.
Doug, for your new coach, it isnt too late to have these added. you would be the first and a trendsetter. and when yachts buys your coach in a few years, it will already be done for him.
regards,
tom
We are going on a trip to Santa Fe and maybe over to the Grand Canyon in July, yeah I know it's hot, but it's what it is.. We have no idea other things to do or stay along the route.. We normally will stay 2 nights or so in a place.. We leave on a Friday get to Amarillo then hit Santa Fe sat morn.. From there I'm at a loss.. We want to get to the Grand Canyon. We are also considering shipping the boat out to lake Powell for a couple days there too. We will have a fun convertible and a rzr with us too so please any and all ideas and comments. We need to be back in ark the following Sunday so the last Sunday is definitely a travel day.

Thursday, I drove the coach to Southern Tire Mart for 6 Bridgestone 11R24.5 H rates tires (fronts were changed out about 3 years ago with Michelin 305/75R24.5). Leaving their facility, I heard a pop that I had not heard before but it wasn't very loud. As I drove away, I noticed that the air pressure was running about 90 psi so I started focusing on that. I just wasn't building up pressure with any authority. I circled back to the commercial truck tire shop and their mechanic and I determined that I had a hole in the right rear air spring on the steering axle that was leaking air as fast as the engine driven air compressor could produce it.
I called Chuck Clark, Newell's Parts Manager, and he ask how many lower mounting studs the airbag had (one) and if the airline came in through one of the upper studs or separately (separately). Based on that, he determined that the current Goodyear replacement airbag was R/W 1003589447C Steer. As it was mid afternoon on Thursday, I asked if he could ship it overnight, early delivery. Chuck had it ready to go within 15 minutes he had one packed up and ready to ship out. FedEx delivered it Friday morning at 8:45 and Southern Tire had me out by noon.
After all the horror stories of folks being stranded on the side of the road due to an airbag failure, I just wanted to provide the best of circumstances for a failure. Newell having the bag in stock and ready to ship, Chuck's outstanding knowledge in identifying the specific airbag and his willingness to get it out immediately (1.5 hours before the tire store closed) and FedEx delivered it 1 hour and 15 minutes after the tire store opened the next morning. Therefore, I only experience a 2 hours and 45 minutes total time delay that the shop was open to get the correct part from Oklahoma.
I will be heading to Newell immediately after the rally for additional airbag replacements as well as the service I had already scheduled.
The knowledge and dedication of the staff and management of Newell is a strong reason for owning a Newell. A special thanks to Chuck.

Gary and I spent some time in the "other" four corners area recently. We thought since you guys are going to be in the area you might want to visit these two places. One is Crystal Bridges Museum in Bentonville, beautiful setting with great walks. Alice Walton has created an unbelieveable American art museum (also traveling exhibits) on her family's property. And it's free! We've been twice. Her latest project is buying a Frank Lloyd Wright house from someplace in the east and having it dismantled piece by piece and brought to her museum.
Also, in Eureka Spring a small 'sortof' restaurant called Stone House. They have an incredible wine and beer menu and serve only cheese plates. Also an outside patio. (But the cheese plates are amazing...and filling) Just thought I might mention these two places and give you their websites.
Stone House (doesn't have its own website that I could find)

and Crystal Bridgeshttp://crystalbridges.org/
We stayed at the 'supposed' Eureka Springs KOA. Okay but quite a ways out of town. I've found that some KOA just pick the closest tourist town and call themselves that town's name. Savannah KOA was the same. We like KOA normally. Sort of like McDonalds, you know what you're getting...usually. Susie

Kind of excited, my old stacker trailer had built in drawers and a work area. The new one doesn't have those nicer amenities and in the 2 months I had the other stacker I had manged to use al of the storage. Well tonight I bought my first big boy tool box. Put it in the stacker and fastened it to the wall. It has some really nice casters so I can roll it out or in. I bought it second hand but looks pretty cool. Even has it's own stereo. So anyway here is a pic.. Now I need to filler up

I have a 1987 #146 and the led indicator that shows what gear your tranny is in has some burnt out segments in 4th and neutral only.I took the part to an electronics repair shop and they could not find a replacement led module.
The numbers on the circuit board are P/N 21445,S/N 091809
Has anyone ran into this problem ?

Looking at the Atlas, Hwy 9 out of Canon City, CO up to Breckenridge. Anyone know if this is a good route in a 45ft. & towing? Certainly the shortest distance but just might not be the best! Any info will be very much appreciated! Jim
