I have external air available where I store my coach and I would like to idle the 120v compressor. What is the minimum air pressure needed to keep the systems working, including the air bags?
As you know my mechanizing skills are not real good. I parked 701 almost 2 weeks ago plugged her in and in advertantly turned on the diesel aqua hot. Went back tonight discovered the error. Question is does it burn all the time or is there a temp sensor that turns it off and on? Also is power to the aqua hot supplied by the coach or house batteries?

My 95 newell has a 8v92 in her. Where is the power steering pump? Is it direct drive as I dont see or have any drive belts other than the rad fan. The a/c has been disconnected. I have not had problems but would like to check the fluild level. All input will be appreciated. Mike. #372.

I just drove 1200 miles from Tulsa to my winter home base in Las Vegas. Major problem when I stopped, the hwh leveling system 680 series won't work. It won't add or delete air. I talked with Mike Ellis at Newell and we tried all he knew to no avail. He told me to call HWH Corp. and ask for a tech, so I did. The girl on line there told me the techs were very busy, but she would have them to call me in about 2 weeks. That's when I told her that didn't seem to be a very good way to run a business and that's when she hung up. I have the an old operator's manual for the 680 series, plus I read some of the new manuel Steve Bare but in. No where can I find a trouble shooting list. I've checked all of the fuses I can find, all ok. I have air 80 and 70 psi. it was 110 and 100 before I pumped the brakes down. When I have it out of gear with the parking brake on and I push the air button the lights all flash on, the red ones go out, the 4 yellow stay on until I take my finger off the air switch, then only light is the travel light. As I was coming out of Flagstaff I ran over what looked like a piece of trim from a car and it something under the rig. I read somewhere that the level sensing unit may be between the front tires. I don't know what to look for here. One of my safety cables for my car was ground in two, It was a little bit to long and could have just dragged or I could have lost air in the back allowing it to drag. Anyway I need your advise and suggestions. My unit is #516, almost the same as Steve's.

I have been playing with the compressor in my coach. (long story, another thread)
I learned something about my coach that others may find interesting. If you have slides....do you know the source of the air for the seals? I always believed and would have bet money on....that the air for the seals comes from the rear air tank that is supplied by the 12V air pump. I thought the purpose of the 12V pump is to backup the 120V air compressor. That made sense to me. You really, really want to have air for the most important systems (the toilet, doors and seals).
The tank in front of the rear wheels can take pressure from the 12V as well as the 120V compressor and has a check valve so that it won't backfeed.
Here is what I learned today: The front slide seals are supplied from the tank near the 120V compressor. The rear slide seals are supplied from the rear tank. I am shocked.
The way that I figured this out was by turning off both air compressors. Then I let the air out of the front tank by releasing the petcock. I just happened to look at the front slide seals. (deflated). I then looked at the rear slide seals....(inflated).
I have often left the coach with the 120V air compressor turned off....believing that the 12V air compressor would keep the seals inflated. (I was wrong).
So the moral of the story...Even things that you are sure that you understand....well you may not be correct!

Last week we visited the factory and had a sway bar installed on the rear of the coach. Now are on a shake-down cruise at Brownsville, TX (River Bend RV Resort, where we own a lot). Have ordered Road King shocks and they should be delivered in about a week. Will get them installed and let everyone know what we think. We may be the first to put Road King Shocks on one of the older Newells. The boys at Newell said they've only put them on newer Newells with the ZF Rear Suspension. Lost 2 hub caps, most of the lug nut covers on the way down in the awful roads in Tulsa, Oklahoma City, and Dallas!
