Hi to all,

My Newell (#335) was acquired from a friend a few years back He was racing
cars, but when that ended he didn't use the coach any longer, so I bought it.

We did a few trips, loved it, but got busy in other areas so it sat... I just fired
her back up (new batteries needed of course) and am working to get her back
on the road.

I don't know much about her original history, first owner etc. so if you have pointers
to that kind of info, let me know.   I look forward to being in the Newell Community !

peace,

Doug

Hi All,
The interior of our door has three plastic pull handles. One long vertical and two horizontal which have 9"+/- centers. I am a designer and used lots of Grohe fixtures in the 80's. I believe they also made these pull bars, I have looked on line and if they did make them, they no longer do.

Has anyone replaced the pull with something similar?

Thanks in advance.
Vonna

There are eight rollers for the generator to slide out, mounted to the carriage.
The roller is a McGill CF 1 1/2 S cam follower. The stud is 5/8 inch with fine threads. $30 to $40 online.

Bear with me for a few minutes. This is our first RV (coach, rig, not sure how to call it yet) and we are really happy with it.

We drove around 18.000 miles this year and we haven't had any major issues with it. Before buying it we were really concerned with a 8V92 engine being old but I think that we were very lucky as the engine is amazing, we ran it thru really cold and really, really hot outside temps  and it kept up perfectly fine (one of the inclines was very steep, the steepest that we climbed yet with 110 degrees outside and  every single truck was going just 5 miles faster than us, this happened a few weeks ago at California going from Palms Springs to Yosemite Valley thru Mojave. At one point we disconnected the Jeep that we tow just in case (water temp was a hairlines over 190, analogue gauge read but still)

As comfortable and functional as it is inside I would like to remodel the interior badly but my wife says that it might be better to just buy a newer model with slides, so the complicated question that we have is what were the factors that you had in mind when you upgraded from a non-slide to a slide RV and why?

I feel that we have everything we need with this coach so it has been difficult for us to keep discussing it with any more arguments than to avoid the interior remodel. I still have in my head that slides might one more thing that might break but I never had any real experience with it.

I'm under the impression that Series 60 engine won't give us a lot more in the area of taking care of overheating (other than more way to control it electronically), is this right?

Juan

I need to replace the fan motor on our dash air condenser. It was manufactured by Mitsuba which is now Honda. I have found a similar motor on Amazon and it is a replacement unit for a HONDA. The fan unit was sold by Specific Climate which is no longer in business.
Has anyone replaced this motor and if so is there a better source for parts?

Coach 410, 1996, has a single front SCS on the PS in front of the entry door and dual rear SCS on the DS behind the house battery compartment. I found that the hot discharge air exhausts out the bottom of the coach. The outlet is located forward of the intake air which is located under the bottom of the coach and aft of the hot air discharge.

So, the cooler outside air is preheated by mixing of exhaust and ambient air. On very hot days, both A/C's struggle. Sometimes, the thermal on the compressor opens or the circulation fan stops.

Cresly at Newell said they used to build a diversion duct for the hot air discharge.
OK.

To test, I have placed a divider between the intake and discharge openings on the bottom of the coach. Efficiency of the system, lack of compressor dropout and cooler inside temps seem to be realized.

I am currently fabricating a mud flap material, flexible diversion system between the two openings. Hot air should be pushed forward and cooler air sucked from a cooler location.
Because ground clearance is so minimal, I'll see if the diversion dams will make it over the terraces at the ranch, dips into RV parks and alligators on the freeway. If not, at least I had a wonderful experience learning to accept failure.

I’ll post photo's later.
