All,
We were at Newell this past week for service and while on the road to and from Newell we ran all four roof airs using the generator. When we arrived home I turned off the air conditioners and the generator and plugged the coach into 50 amp. After plugging the coach into 50 amp I noticed that it took about two minutes before the thermostat would turn on. Is two minutes switching from generator to 50 amp too long?
The other thing I noticed during our return trip home was that the thermostat would not allow me to change the temperature on any of the air conditioner zones. The thermostat was unresponsive to zone changes, temperature changes, or changing from a/c to heat. Any thoughts on this situation? I appreciate any and all input.

My 20kw genset runs VERY hot while driving.  And it never shuts off.  (I chicken out and shut it down manually when temp guage approaches 250 (max)). Here is what I know.

1. I've had the coach a year. It seems well maintained by PO.
2. PO advised me of this condition. He had had it checked out at Newell and they said it was "normal" to run quite hot while driving.
3. Temperature is under 200 when stationary
4. It does not lose coolant
5. Cooling fan seems to work properly (although after reading a prior post, i'll see if squirrel cage blades need cleaning.)

Questions/Concerns:
1. On the front of the engine (where I think the thermostat is located) are 2 things with wires attached to them. I assume they are:
    a) Temp sender for overheat shut-off
    b) Temp sender for dash temp guage.     Am I correct about these two? and which is which?
2. How can I make sure each of these are working correctly? (Especially the auto shut-down one)
3. At what temp should this be shutting itself down?
4. Opposite side of the thermostat housing is a plug.  Is this for a third sensor? (Could it be used to validate reading from dash guage?)
5. Would pointing an IR temperature reader at the housing tell me the temp as well?

Ideas for lowering the operating temp...
1. I will wash out radiator with a hose.  Not sure how dirty it is, but i do see some build up of dirt on inside of it. Is hose cleaning sufficient?
2. See if blades on squirrel cage fan need cleaning
3. I see a smallish (9-12") piece of rubber seal hanging down under front of the generator. I'll put it back in place. Could a small seal leak be letting in enough negative pressure to keep it from cooling?
4. What else????

Thanks for your help.

on my 1994 8v92 the automotive AC compressor mounts broke or failed and took out the engine fan completely.  I cannot find the correct fan.  is there a part number for this?  Had Clark in Indy put a new fan on, they said they could not find a 7 blade so the put an 8 blade on.  It ran hot all the way home.  Must be the wrong fan or angle.  Someone has to have a spec or model number for it.  Parts at Newell as not been much help either.  Huh Huh Huh

Upon returning from our latest trip I accidentally bumped the tag axle switch to the up position. I immediately heard air coming from the axle area. Now when I start the unit as soon as it has pressure built up the air discharge can be heard. This does not immediately affect the main air system. My question is the tag axle switch is a three position switch. Does the bottom position deflate the axle and the upper position inflate it? I have not been under the coach yet but will do so this weekend. My understanding is there is a pressure gauge in the curb side engine housing. If this is the appropriate gauge it is inflating to around 100lbs which seems high.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

I was starting to open the gauge panel up and accidentally grounded the shore line light that is on the front instrument panel. I still have 115 to coach from shoreline but the light and the voltmeters are not working. Can anybody tell me where the fuse is?

DW has decided the washer/dryer combo needs to be replaced with a full sized fridge. How does the unit attach? and any idea as to how to remove it? Neither works at the moment, but the washer still has water in it. Thanks in advance, Mark
