I have been trying to figure out what the device is that is attached to my black tank. Its a small aluminum box with what looks to be 12v power in, and 4 leads out. These leads run to "sensors" located around the bottom of the black tank. I would think they were level sensors, except my 1983 does not have level indicator (to best of my knowledge), and they do not seem to lead any where. The aluminum box has no markings. I sure am curious to know what this thing may be.

A couple of days ago we were driving from Albuquerque to Santa Fe when three things happened simultaneously. The coach veered hard right, the coach felt like it was going to tip over to the right, and a  tremendous flapping noise occurred, We veered halfway onto the shoulder before I could straighten the coach. I immediately thought we had lost a tire, but my new tire monitoring system was silent, and the coach was trying to steer straight . Then I heard the slide topper awning above the salon slide wind back up.

We stopped at the next exit, and to my surprise the awning locks on the arms were intact. So the wind had to hit the coach just right to get under the rolled up awning and unroll it.

When we got to Santa Fe, both the salon and the bedroom awnings had obviously deployed about four feet based on the way the leading edge was rolled back up. I have never had anything like this happen before and I hope to never have it happen again.

We drove across I40 in tremendous side winds on the left of the coach and the awnings stayed put just fine. This had to be a microburst at just the right angle to get under the awning and unfurl it. We had just crested mesa and there were wind warnings and wind socks galore.

Not that you need to do anything, just thought you would get some entertainment at my expense. When I see wind warnings I will make sure both hands are on the wheel.

After on generator remaoval and install at Gordon's  aka best gen man.. I can say so happy I drove to Ohio to have him do it's I learned sooo much.. inspired me to try some stuff on my own. Installed a freedom sine wave 3000 watt inverter..the new inverters use car 5 not phone line but they have a phone line to cat5 adapter that made remounting the control panel a breesze. I added a 3 camera screen on the left of the driver . An iPad for navigation and weather.. next I think I'll try the vmspc( spelling?) to monitor engine functions.. Not that I know what they mean..I also replaced the dash air compressor.. wow it nice to have dash airSmile I will also replace the number one a/c unit hopefully Friday.

Have all new batteries, genny, inverter, grill head..lightning damage almost all fixed.. transfer switch acting silly and plug has char marks on it.. maybe lightning damage from it not sure.. any opinions?

A 1967 coach...gas engine, updated electrical. A project coach that we can't do because of relocation. Has original interior, except updated appliances. The original TV and A/C unit still work! Would love to see someone restore it...it is a real piece of Americana that I would hate to see lost. Clean title. Located in Camano WA.  Contact me for more info!

After lots of debating (read arguing) we have reluctantly decided to sell our coach.  We love the Newell and will probably end up with another one eventually but we need to focus on our home in Alabama for the near future.  We are offering it at $129,000 but are negotiable.
It really does not need anything, everything was added after we bought it:
New Michelin 365 tires and matching Alcoa wheels (for more capacity).
-2 8D Engine batteries (6 8D house batteries were and still are in good shape and were just tested good.
- new awning over living room slide
- 32" tv in living room

Have the following additional parts to be installed:
- 2 new 12-volt pumps for slides (to suck the air bladders flat) but not installed (yet).
- 6-pack rebuild kit

Needs nothing to travel just about anywhere in style...
More Pictures coming soon!  Will list on Ebay or CL soon but wanted to show it on the group in case you know of someone needing a great coach

I am hopefully soon will be purchasing a 2005-2008 Newell. I will be new at understanding RV's systems and how to use them. Does anyone have a PDF copy of an owners manual in the year I hope to purchase? it would be fun to start reading and understanding the coach pier to owning one.
Thanks Dan

Forum: Please introduce yourself

I probably should have introduced myself sooner but in all of the excitement of leaning as much as could by reading all the stuff you guys have done,I forgot to stop by here. I have to say thanks to a lot of guys that have helped me so far. Chester Stone, thanks for the Aquahot DVD it helped me substantially , thanks to Danny Goss for PMMI clock stuff, and a special thanks to John Curwick for the A/C condensor fan info it worked great. for those of you that are fairly new, you won't find a better bunch of extremely knowledgeable people outside the factory.

Thanks to you all, without your threads a lot of stuff wouldn't get fixed. Hopefully I will be able to pay back all the help I have received in some way. A special thanks needs to go out to the gentleman that started this forum, if it wasn't for them I wouldn't have spent 2 yrs looking for and buying a Newell.

Thanks, Rick Carlson
