Cindy and I are starting to plan our Alaska trip for next year.
If anyone has done the trip please add your suggestions for what to see and do.
We'll be in the 26' LazyDaze so will be using gas and not diesel and our range will be around 300-400 miles Which may be more than we want to drive each day.
Anybody want to join us?

Have a 2007 Newell with TCS 11 NE02 PM001 v 5.08
Has a Prosine 3.0 Xantrex Inverter
Total Coach System is showing error code 11 communication error inverter - this error is sporadic and not constant (sometimes red light other times green)
All seems ok at the Xantrex monitor
All connections seem ok
Spoke to Silverleaf - they think inverter may be going bad.
Any suggestions before buying a new inverter?
Richard

I've seen questions from time to time on getting dental work done in Mexico, and more precisely, Los Algodones, Mexico.  The border crossing for Los Algodones is between Yuma, AZ and Winterhaven, CA.  The actual border crossing is off I-8 in California at the Los Algodones Rd. exit.  There is an Indian Casino called Quechan Casino right at the exit, and they offer RV parking behind the casino on a large dirt lot.  Depending on the time of year there can be anywhere from less than a dozen RV's parked there to 100 RV's.  The casino is just 2 miles from the border.  Also, depending on the time of year the cost can vary from free to $3/day.  They also operate a large parking lot right at the border crossing where you can park for about $6/day......from the parking lot is is about 1/2 mile walk to our dentist.

There are over 300 dentists in Los Algodones so how do you find a good one?  The best way, or course, is a personal recommendation.  This is how we found our dentist.  We contacted a number of our fulltime RV friends and almost to a one they recommended Dr. Eva Urena (619-866-6992).  The phone number is a U.S. number.  George, her husband, answers the phone.  She has a very modern dental office, and is located 4 short blocks from the border crossing.  We first utilized her services about 2.5 years ago.  Since we began using her I have had one dental implant, and 2 crowns installed.  Elaine has had a tooth pulled, and a couple of crowns also.  If you need a root canal she will refer you to Dr. Hernandez whose office is just 100 feet from hers.  He is also excellent!   The prices are amazing! In most cases the entire cost for extractions, crowns, filings, etc. are less than 1/2 what our dental insurance co-payments used to be back when we had dental insurance.  I've had one root canal done by Dr. Hernandez, and Elaine has had 4, or 5.  Probably the best root canal experience I have ever had, and Elaine says the same.

If any of you have more questions please feel free to e-mail me at [email protected], or call me at 951-236-5312.  We can recommend Dr. Urena without reservation!

Hi all,

I may be entering the 2 Newell club if things line up. I will decide which one I keep.
Found a bus that has a 8v92 engine with HT740 Allison, but the Jakes do not currently work.
It is in Vegas. I would have to drive it back to Indiana second week of April if we make a deal.
Any advice as to what route over the rockies would be better knowing that I have no slow down help from the jakes ?
The less elevation the better ANDd since it is April....snow may still be a factor.
Options are
- 15 to 70 and north through Utah,
- 40 east through Albuquerque,
- 10 to 20 through Fort Worth, hug the southern border but adds 350 miles to the trip

Any suggestions and advice ?

Forum: Air Conditioning
- Replies (2)

Hello Gurus,

On my coach #599 (2001) I have three roof-top air conditioners; units 1 & 2 I believe to be original (Duo-Therm 13.5k btu each, according to the literature I have) and unit 3 is different, maybe a Duo-Therm Penguin???  (I have no paperwork on that one).

Units 1 & 2 are both noisy and #2 has a serious vibration; I've read on here a bit about that issue being common with them, and I choose to replace them with new.

Unit 3 works just fine; however, it's taller then the others, and this is an issue as it's the high point of the coach.  If I could lower it slightly that would be a cool (no pun intended) thing.

All three of these units are controlled by a Comfort Control Center thermostat (fairly new, I replaced it last August) and it seems to work well.

So my questions are as follows:

1)  given that I have the CCC thermostat, what choices do I have for different makes of AC units (I'm guessing only Duo-therm/Dometic?)
2) Low profile or not???  (it seems to make sense, at least on the rear #3 unit)
3) stay with 13.5btu?
4) might you recommend a particular model? (I do not need/want heat strips)

Thanks much in advance!
Bryan

Hi, we have a 1989 Newell with three gas heaters, three electric heaters, and two engine heaters. Our problem is that two of the gas heaters are out, and they’re DOA. We’ve tried to fix them, but they are very tempermental, and we don’t trust to leave them on. We would like to stay with gas due to the amount of electricity the electric heaters pull while stored. Any suggestions on a replacement for the duo therm? Thanks in advance
