My steering wheel has a little play in it and it is from the drag link ends. Does anyone have any idea where I could find replacement drag link ends for my '81? I don't know who made the axle as the tag is no longer there. Newell could only tell me it was Dana or Rockwell. Dana can't help without a part #. The axle is an "I-beam" style.
I saw that Richard replaced his drag link ends in 2014 but my Newell is much older.
Included are photos of the drag link ends.
Ok, here is the problem. The windows are all stuck!! Drivers side is not, but all the other windows are stuck tight. Tried to use silicon spray, tried to use the suction cup method. The suction cup method worked back in November with Sue inside and Guy outside on a ladder with suction cups and lots of struggling to get them open. Any solutions? We are about 1 1/2 weeks to full time status and it would help to have some air going thru the house...
THanks ,
II am wondering if anybody has used solar window film on their coach. I'm looking to reduce heat into the salon area.
My coach (#599) has a Phantom screen door that is acting up........I called the Phantom rep out to service it. He needs to remove the mechanism to repair it, Newell has enclosed the Phantom mechanism with laminate covered panels with no visible attachment screws.
I'll attach a couple pics. The red arrow points at the Phantom screen mechanism that needs to be removed to be serviced; the green arrow points to the facia/trim that needs to be removed.
Has anyone else been down this road before? Thanks in advance.
Bryan
Does anyone know where to purchase the exact rivets on outside of coach ? I am replacing a couple bay door skins and I have found close but not exact . I will find them but just hoping someone else has been there before me . Thank you very much!
2016 was a bust because it took all year to buy one house, sell one house, and move.

Forum: Discussion about what to consider on buying a used Newell
- Replies (7)
I have been researching buying my first Pre-owned Motorhome and the brand looks like going to be Newell. with the help of this Forum I have narrowed down the year because of some improvements. Steerable tag started in 2004 with these 3 coach #671-681,685, this is an option looks nice to have. 2004 and newer gives you Valid Slides and Spyder multiplex single wire. The only question I not sure on is in 2004 Newell used Detroit Series 60 engines "500HP", a few C12 and C13 Caterpillar then in used the C15 Caterpillar for the next 4 years. I have driving a few Diesel trucks but not enough to know about the engines. Is the Detroit 60 an ok engine power wise for this Couch or is it better to look for a Newell with the high C15 Cat with 625 HP..
thanks
I need a little help identifying the model number of the steering gear. I know it is a a TRW TAS85, but the exact model number is supposed to be stenciled right on the bottom of the gear, on a small flat area easily visible from below. Years have faded my stencil to unreadable.
If any of you with the DANA IFS84 front ends know the model number or care to look, I would appreciate the model number. On the side of the large metal casting is a number that starts with TAS85 but that is not the model number.
I removed the box, dang that thing is heavy, it pinned me to the ground!
The model number I lifted from mine was TAS85 075. There was a second stencil number below the model number 3489789261T.
And it gets better. According to TRW Technical Services, this is a model number specific to Newell. Meaning you probably will not find a reman one. So you have to reman the one you have.

looks like a nice project for someone!!
Hi yall, just took my furnace apart and cleaned the burner etc. I sprayed some lubricant on the intake side of the fan to lube it up too.
Ive had it running here for a while and its fluttering, kindof snuffing out and relighting itself. Thought maybe was just vapors from the lubricant but it doesn't seem to be improving. Any ideas what it could be without doing a bunch of searching the forums?
Much appreciate any input
