When I bought this coach, the PO said it had no safe, which I thought unusual but took him at his word. Then today, I was looking at the original plan and noticed there was a safe designated, at least in the plans, under the entry step.
When I replaced the carpet under the step cover, I remember there is a safe sized steel box in that area, but I didn't notice any openings, then again, I wasn't looking for one either.
So, if there is a safe there, was that a standard location for classic Newell safe's, and/or can anyone tell me where the access point is?
A Newell parked near us at table rock ozarks RV resort.
Have a 2000 45' Newell #553.
I need to replace the circuit board for the Thermometer that measures the outside and tankage area temps. It is a 2 button (one that is on/off the other alternates between the outside temp and the tankage temp). It is located on the main control panel in the kitchen. I called Newell.....they said it was no longer manufactured but that PMI was the circuit board manufacturer. I went on line and cannot find information related to PMI thermometer circuit boards.
Does any one know where I can find this circuit board?
Or alternatives to obtain the referenced temps and have the indicator installed in the panel?
The last trip in my coach was in March and since then, it has been stored hooked up with shore power. So, this weekend I start getting the coach ready for travel at the end of the year, and 3 of the 6 house batteries positive posts are dissolved. When I opened the bay, the 3 posts had that "corroded" build up. When I started cleaning, the positive cables are still attached to each other, but no post.
Obviously, I now need new batteries, but what happened?

I have some general questions that I should know the answers to, but I don't ...
4 speed Allison transmission. Do I check fluid level as I would in a car? Warm transmission, engine running, trans in neutral?
Time to add some coolant, Its 2 " below the sight glass when cold. Has a bright green color to it. Was last serviced by the Detroit Diesel dealer in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Service receipt does not say what coolant was used. What should I add? Might be 2 gallons low. No evidence of a leak. Appears to have a new radiator cap.
Coach has 11R 24.5 tires. Have been running 100 lbs front, 95 rear. Is this ok?
I made quite a mess trying to add oil to the crankcase from the oil reservoir. This was the first oil needed in 2600 miles. I had opened the air pressure inlet, and opened the air " breather" thinking it was the outlet to to engine. I had not discovered the trigger valve releasing the oil to the engine. Needles to say, I made oil soup and blew about 2 quarts of it on me and the engine compartment. I'm sure I will not forget how to add oil in the future. How do you handle engine bay housekeeping? So far it's been paper towels and citrus based cleaner, but the results not as clean as I would like it. I have a pressure washer but am hesitant to use it in the engine compartment
Can the air dryers on Newell's be removed without letting the air out of the system or can they be replaced simply by unscrewing the canister and putting on the new one? They are a little difficult to get to, but believe that i can get loose and off using a big filter wrench.

I am right in the midst of getting ready to head south for the winter. Loads of stuff yet to accomplish today and early departure towing car tomorrow. So maybe the is why I can't seem to think well enough to figure this out.
Asking for your insight into how the following symptoms might relate to a component failure. I will followup when someone gets it right or I figure it out. I plan to travel with the problem as I don't think it is dangerous and I have a work around for the one scenario that would get me in trouble ( going to travel mode after fulling raising the coach to get over the tracks). Below is just a cut and paste from my notes and a picture of my HWH control panel so you will know which buttons I am referring to.

I heard an air leak when the coach was in travel mode. Sounds to be coming from the front HCV.
I force lowered the coach well below travel height and put it back in travel mode – brake on, e-brake off, and in D, then back to N, E-brake on, brake off.
With engine running there was no leak and I watched the coach come to ride height, maybe a hit too high, and then the air started to leak at a rate I could hear again.
The engine air compressor keeps up with the leak easily, even at idle.
Looking at the air system diagram I think it’s not obvious to me right now.
trying another test
Raised front to above ride height.
No air leaking
Put in travel mode
Air exhausting/leaking but the front does NOT go down to ride height
Took out of travel mode with AIR button and air leak stopped
Coach sitting too high.
Used down arrow to drop well below ride height.
Put back in travel mode
Came to ride height, and then the air leak started
Settled at about the correct height.
Pressing AIR stops the leak.
This will be a problem after crossing the railroad tracks as I will be too high ( due to manual raise to get over ) and it will not go down properly when I return to travel mode. I will need to lower manually soon after crossing.
