All,
Looked and test drove Coach 1242 last week. This is the first 07/08 model that I have seen with the above engine transmission combination. I was under the impression that Newell went with ZF transmission paired with the CAT 625 because of the torque was too high for the Allison transmission. Any issues pairing the CAT 625 engine with the Allison transmission? The Allison provided smooth shifting as compared to the ZF transmission. Thanks in advance for any and all responses.

Reese

Many of us who have been around Newell for a while remember Boyd Vanover. Boyd started in 1973 working for Mr. Newell in the cabinet shop. He moved the engineering position and retired after 40 years with Newell as Vice-President of Engineering.

Karl and Alice Blade just announced the death of Boyd. There will be a Celebration of Life Service on Thursday, February 16 from 6-8 pm at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami, OK.

Boyd was a knowledgeable, helpful man. I will miss him.

One of my electric bay door latches has failed and I'm using the key to lock it while in storage.  This is marginally inconvenient, but I really liked hitting that switch before I locked the door.  On these latches, is the failure typically the solenoid or in the wiring?  Has anyone else torn one of these down?  I can go at it myself, but if the wheel has already been invented, I'm happy to piggyback.  Here's a picture of the solenoid on my 98.  Well there would have been had I been able to figure out how to do it.

Listed as #588 and a 42'. #595 is the only 42' Newell made in 2001. So this is either #595, a 42', or it is #588 and is 45'8".

If anyone can verify the real VIN/coach number please post this information and I will correct/clarify this posting.

Hi, Looking  for a thermostat sender or part # on the Aqua-Hot unit. Its the one that lets u know what the temp. is on your control panel. The control panel gauge shows ??? & that's it. The sender is very small up in the right hand corner of the tank & has three wires coming out (Red Blk & Green).
Thanks

Remove driver , (dash) control panel?

Looking for someone who has had the dash control panel out on an 84 era coach

I am replacing the old 50 amp manual  transfer switch with a new auto transfer switch. The original one was working fine, but had been repaired many times over the years, leaving  a nest of wires inside it that made me uncomfortable.

I now have no use for the selector switch in the dash for shore/ generator, or the associated shore power indicating light. I removed the 10 screws on the drivers control panel, thinking there would be long enough  leads on the back of  it to gain access . I am not able to lift the panel up more than an inch or two, and don't want to break or  unplug something. Am I missing something here? I am assuming that the factory put it together and then screwed it in, meaning there should be at  last a foot of extra length in the wires?

The solution for yesterday was to put it back together and save it for another day   Huh
