Saw a Newell 06 or newer towing a white 4-door Jeep on I-15 heading north of Cedar City, Utah.
Brown with darker brown or black trim.

Any suggestions how one would run a couple wires from behind the dash area to behind the headlight area ?  Any help would be appreciated, 1998 coach 473,  Thank You

Well, winter in Brownsville this was was almost a bust.  It rained, rained, and rained and the wind blew a lot.  The sun was hiding most of the time. but at least it was warmer than Butler, MO.

We had AquaHot problems while we were there.  Thanks to Rudy for his advice.  We ordered the 3 sensors, and my wife and I replaced them.  It took us 2 days with lots of fishing around underneath for those tiny little 1/4" screws.  For goodness sake if you have to do that make sure you have a magnetized nut driver.  I told my wife that the both of us wouldn't make a pimple on an electrician's you know what.  But we finally won...and everything seems to be working properly.  The problem was that the high limit switch would kick off and I'd have to go reset it on the electric side.  The limit switch was a 230 switch and it should have been a 190 degree limit switch, because the resettable high limit switch was a 220 sensor. The high limit on the diesel would not reset.  They both looked pretty old so we replaced both of them and everything works fine.

On the way home there was a problem with the Inverter.  I assumed it was batteries and when we got home I put probably 2 gallons of water in them. They were pretty low.  Then I unhooked all the negatives leads on all the batteries, turned off the shore power for about 20 minutes and then turned everything back on and that reset the inverters.

The other exciting thing that happened while we were just about a mile from River Bend (on our way home) is that we met a truck who was flashing it lights rather urgently at us and when I looked back, I could see smoke. I don't know what happened, but the tow car was burning.  The wiring on the battery was destroyed.  The doors had locked so we couldn't get into it and had to break the back window for the fire department to get in to put out the fire.  Some people from the RV park came along and helped unhook the coach so I could pull it up the road away from car because we were afraid it was going to catch the gas tank on fire.  I had just filled it up.  My wife's bicycle was on a carrier on the back of the car so we salvaged that too.  Those guys helped put the bike and all the tow equipment, bike carrier, etc. in one of the bays under the coach.  We're still waiting on word from the insurance company.  

We have been at camp gulf for the last 3 days and heard a large boom followed by a vibration. Almost sounded like a tire exploding. Very shortly after we heard 2 more. You could actually feel the whole coach shutter and the awnings vibrate.  Anyone have any ideas?   Well about 15 seconds later it hit me.. Sonic booms from jets of shore.

Walmart has full syn Rotella on sale for 19.47 per gallon, with a 5 buck per gallon mail in rebate.

That's full syn for the price of dino oil.

This if for your entertainment at my expense. One, in the last 7 months, we have slept in our sticks and bricks 7 weeks. Two, my brain is insanely tuned into vibrations and changes in noise. Three, we are home for a little while.

Last night, in the middle of the night, I woke and felt the compressor running. I thought vibrating more than normal. And it kept running. I began to think I had an air leak. Hmm, shut it off and turn on the 12 V. But wait, what if the air line that blew out on the great tire rub debacle is leaking, then the 12V will just run and run.


Wait, wait, I'm at home. It can't be the air compressor. It must be the coal train.

Even I had to laugh.

I think it's a sign we should hit the road again.

Several of us have had issues with electrical connections becoming loose and generating enough heat to melt the wire jacket and surrounding plastic.   Its a good idea to inspect the wiring on the air conditioners annually to ensure that the connections are clean and tight.  

What I never thought about until yesterday, was the electrical connection to the Aquahot.  With the help of Rudy Leggett ( trainer ) I found a burnt wire feeding my AH unit.  It was a simple matter to put some heat shrink tubing on the wire and a new wire nut, but it could have caused a much larger problem.

Moral of the story.  If you feel confident with power issues and know how to kill power to the AH unit, pull the access cover off and have a look-see.  If you see burnt plastic...well you have a problem.  Clean and bright plastic....You are probably good to go.

I remember the day that I got an email announcing the forming of the Newell Gurus.  I had owned my coach about a year, and was feeling overwhelmed by the learning curve and the feeling that I had gotten in over my head.

Although I didn't know it then, the Guru's would put me on the path to happy coach ownership.  They have helped me time-and-time again work through easy, weird, hard and sometimes interesting problems.   Along the way I have made some really good friends.

Yesterday, one of those friends met me in Houston to straighten out some issues with my Aquahot.  We spent a couple of hours fixing, talking, and tinkering.   This morning I had a nice hot shower thanks to his help.

The afternoon reminded me of what I like about the Gurus.  "Friends helping Friends" is the motto and it really could not be said better.  On this day a friend was helping me, but tomorrow, I hope that I am the one providing the help.

All of this was to say this:  You guys / gals are great!  This is really a wonderful group and its an honor to be a member.
