hi all,

i know this question seems to give a number of opinions and such, but i thought i would ask for your experiences.

i will be running a total of about 200 foot of air lines in my new shop. i will have a compressor capable of 175psi.

i have studied this and researched on garage journal forum (lotssss of opinions there).

there are a few common materials used.

1. PVC pipe (btw, i am not interested in using this. i know many have with good luck, but i will not be using it)

2. Threaded black pipe (seems to be the what alot of industrial places use)

3. galvanized threaded pipe (not as common)

4. copper (type K, L or M)

5. stainless

6. aluminum

7. different types of Pex.

8. specialized plastic airlines made for compressed air

so.....i do not want to use threaded metal piping so 1 and 2 are out. stainless and aluminum are out, no PVC, pex i am leary about, specialized plastic airlines are expensive and not common, so that pretty much leaves copper in my mind.

even at the highest temperatures, the copper pipe handbook has type M able to hold well over 200psi,

i am assuming the trunk line should be 3/4" and then 1/2" drops off of it.

so, any other opinions and or things i have missed?

the price difference between type K, L and M is pretty large. I will probably use type L or M.

thoughts?

thanks

tom

On coach 390, there was a small pump located on the driver side of the engine that helped circulate coolant to the aquahot and to the dash heat.

I don't see that pump on 512. I can get the coolant to circulate to the AH while driving if I activate the engine preheat, which of course turns on a pump inside the AH.

My question is do you have the circulation pump by the engine? If you do, can you snap a pic so I can see what the make and model might be?

In cold weather driving, the engine preheat pump does not circulate enough volume to keep the AH or dash heat much above 120. I am thinking of adding this pump to 512.

Hey all,

Apparently there were some security vulnerabilities discovered with the previous software we were running (MyBB 1.6.10), so it has now been updated to 1.8.3, which is why everything looks a little different.

A couple plugins have broken and I've done my best to fix them, but if you see anything that isn't working the way it should be, please let me know.

There's a new search bar, and some new buttons like Open Buddy List (which requires you to have buddies added before it does anything), View New Posts, and View Today's Posts.

Things I'm aware of right now, which aren't a concern to most of you, is new members won't be emailed notifying them of their activation.

I have a musical horn in my unit that plays 99 tunes ,I don't have the manual to explain what they are. Maybe this is some oddball aftermarket thing and no one has one ? I don't think the neighborhood would tolerate me going through all the tunes and writing them down , unlikely I would recognize them anyway !

we live in a rural area and there is a weekly flea market in the town center every weekend. it is the real kind of flea market.

i bought these things there last weekend. will make a great addition to the shop.

i actually bought 2 gas pumps, but sold one right away to a friend.

the dials and gears are the mechanical computer for the gas pump. i have started taking things apart to get them working again.

btw, the old gas pumps and fire hydrants are cast iron. they are really heavy.

the stop light is really big.
